Use what makes him happy. we did a sticker chart. everyday i took his diaper off (risky at first you have to really watch them) and if he started to pee id say hold it. and then we would run to the pot. he loves counting his stickers. when he gets 10 he gets ice cream. I give him 2 stickers for poopy. It took about 2 weeks and lots of prayer but he's in undies now. I let him pick the theme out for the undies and everything. He loves it. I tell him he cant get spider man wet. and he agrees. You have to go with what he likes.

Hi S.,
Is your little guy ready to be potty trained? Is he showing signs he's ready? Just make sure he's ready, even though you are, because if he's not, it may not work.
We waited till my son was about 3 and 4 months old. We did try to start with him earlier, but it just wasn't working. Consistency is the key, just as the other moms have mentioned. And you will need tons of patience! Have your son choose the potty chair and have him get familiar with it. He can play with it and get comfortable. Make potty training fun and exciting. We rewarded our son stickers everytime he managed to go 'pee-pee' or 'poo-poo' in the potty. Make it a very big deal when he does go and that will encourage him to go even more. It even helps to make up a cute little 'potty' song that is simple and catchy enough for him to remember. And if you can, while you're potty training him, stay home with him because you consistently want to do this everyday for about a week or two. And once he's ready to take trips to the store with you, bring the potty chair with you in the car and have him wear training pants. One more thing, there's a great DVD called, "Potty Power." and you can buy it online. It's worked wonders for our son, because real kids are on this DVD, showing you how to go potty, washing hands after going potty, learning that going potty means your a 'big kid now'.
Happy Potty Training!

Hi S.
The first thing you could do is by buying your child a potty seat. maybe you could buy the ones that make sounds then they go pee pee.. to encourage him to go. Put the potty seat in the bathroom, So then you have to go to the bathroom you have him come with you and have him seat on the potty seat while you are doing you thing... You don't have to take diaper the first times. First you want him to get use to the idea of seating on him potty. Then after he likes his potty seat and trying taking the diapers off and have him seat. If the first you don't suceed try try again. There are some cute books to encourage children to go potty in the stores. maybe you should get one too! NOw remmeber this will take time.. sometimes it could take a months!. Don't give up. then he is ready read you will know. My son completed his potty train right then he turn 3 years old. We start his potty training on and off since he was two years old. l.o.l

Good luck!!

Hello,

The potty training thing is probably one of the hardest things to do. I also suggest buying a small potty and taking him to the bathroom with you. If he's talking and understanding you well, maybe every now and then you could ask him if he has to go. I bought my children big kid underwear that made then feel like they were big kids and let them wear them. If they made a mistake I'd just bring them in the bathroom and show them where it goes. Consistency is the key to good potty training. My children were trained by the time they were two due to the fact that another was on the way and mommy didn't want to buy two sizes of diapers (I had a lot of time on my hands lol). Some kids take longer to train and some don't. Every hour take him to the potty and pull off his diaper and sit him on the toilet. Ask him constantly if he has to go. Eventually, he'll get it. It just takes time and patience on your part.
