Need to know whats has worked for you?? My daughter has had it for 7 days. Whats the best things to do to get rid of it??? Thanks a bunch!!!
This is what we are doing now: Wash everything in hot water, aveno baths, and cortizone cream, and antibiotic from the Dr. Hydroxyzine. Went to Dr today!! And she said she could have it for 2-3 weeks. Till it completely cleared up.

What can I do next?

I haven't tried this, but someone I know swears by it. She told me she had an awful case of poison ivy and ended up in the E.R. where the doc on duty told her to run a bath as warm as she is comfortable with. Add a full carton of real old fashion oats....not instant. Soak in it until the water is completely cool. Towel off by patting, not rubbing. She said she did it that night and it was gone late the next afternoon. Best of luck!

Try Zanfel. My husband uses this every time he gets it and always had great results. Sometimes it's hard to find, but call around.

I have heard that rubbing the inside of a banana peel on the area helps the itching. Perhaps a try after a snack.

If it's been 7 days, she probably needs to see a doctor. My husband is severely allergic and requires a steroid shot to rid himself of poison ivy. It's terrible!

My first question for you is are you a Melaleuca customer? IF you are then check in your Wellness Guide. If you don't have one email me back. IF you aren't a Melaleuca customer then email me or give me a call, because you don't want to go another day with out being educated on this company that offers safe and healthy products that work for your entire family! I don't distribute products I simply educate others on the importance of knowing what is in your household items.!

Basically, unless it is infected you really don't need antibiotics, but I am not your doctor. When my son had it recently, I treated at home with OTC, but couldn't get it clear. We finally went. WE got precription steroid cream triamacinalone sparingly on the patches and oral prednisone. I used cold packs for the itching with OTC oral benadryl antihistamine and iching relief. With the oral steroids, it was only for 5 days. Nothing was gone but it started to clear and continued to clear on own way better than what I had been doing. We also used calamine lotion to help get them to start drying up and to help with the itch even after the steroid cream. I hope that helps. We discovered our cat brought it in. It was only on my middle sons face and he was the only one that had it. It was his cat. He got it all over where-ever he "loved" on her, which is rubbing his face all over her while holding her.
good luck,
L.

When my 17 year old son had it THREE times last summer, we did the steriods twice, along with the Aveno baths. After the second round of steriods, the third time he got posion ivy, he refused to take the steriods again due to the side effects. His peditrician put him on Zyrtex daily to help with the itching. Now, Zyrtex is over the counter and easier to get. As far as "getting rid of it", nothing will help (beyond the steriods) until it passes out of her system. It really is one of those "time heals" things!! YUCK!!!

Sounds like you are doing everything you can. I know it is just miserable for them.

Hang in there, Mom. You're doing all the right things!
