Hello Everyone,

My parents are going to be coming down for a visit in September. I was wandering if anyone had any good places to visit in Rhode Island wiht a two year old other then the zoo, children's museum, and mystic acqarium. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

What can I do next?

There is a pottery place in East Greenwich that is fun (I think there is one in Barrington too - but not 100% sure.) Chuck E Cheese in Warwick. Lizzy's Enchanted Creamery in Cumberland, check the local libraries for story times (and they have puzzles and other toys to play with in the children's rooms). Regal Reptile's in Prov suppostedly has like a reptile zoo (but I have never been there). IMAX (depending on what movies they have). City Park in warwick has a good playground, so does Slater Park in Pawtucket. Borders can be hours of fun for me - LOL - and my little one loves to look at books too (there might be story times there too).

Check out kidoinfo.com - they have lots of things listed on their calendar. :)

Good luck! and Have Fun.

Have you ever been to Colt State Park in Bristol? It is wonderful!!! You bring a picnic lunch, check it out on-line in regards to using grills as some are available.
We have gone there with kids of all ages for the whole day, watched the sun set before returning home.
There you may fly kites, play ball, go for long walks on the walk path, there is no end to what you may do there. There are lots of trees for shade, the ocean for view and usually a wonderful breeze! Good luck! J.

I am so glad you asked this question because I live in RI and am always looking for something new to do with my daughter. In addition to some of the other responses. You could check out Wright's Dairy Farm allow visitors to watch cow milking between 3-6pm. It depends on the weather, but there is also Brenton Point in Newport which is always nice. It is beautiful there. Usually lots of people flying kites, beautiful view of the ocean. Pack a picnic or grab something to eat in Newport, check out the beaches. The Big E is September 12-28th in West Springfield, MA. That is a lot of fun, but it would be a long day for an 11 month old. Check out their website www.thebige.com Hope this helps. Have fun.

I have heard GREAT things about Davis Farmland- it's in Sterling, MA, which might be too far, but I've heard that it is fabulous for kids that age- they have a petting zoo and a small water park, etc.

check out www.davisfarmland.com

the other thing I love to do in Sept/Oct is go apple picking- if you can find a place with a small petting zoo and fresh cider donuts, that is the best!!! Again, I only know of places in MA- Tougas Farms is relatively close to Worcester and they have a web site.

So, personally... I think that Slater Park is one of the best places to bring the little ones! They've got a great playgound for big and little kids, the Fanny the Elephant staue, a little farm animal zoo, and food huts all in one! There's a great park to walk around with huge field. THere's even a flower garden area with a little "pond" thingy. THat place is a lifesaver to me. no admission fee, you only pay for their food if you want it.
Also, there's Capron Zoo in Attleboro. About a 20 minute drive from Prov. It's $5.50 per person to get in, free 2 and under and wicked cute! They've got lions and stuff, they also rock an unbelievable playground right outside of the zoo gates. Again, good food (kid friendly stuff: grilled cheese, pizza, nuggets) and cheap prices on it, unlike Roger Williams.
Good luck!
