Hello,
I'm looking for a pediatrician in the Watertown/Belmont/Newton/Cambridge or Waltham areas. I will be delivering at Mt. Auburn Hospital, so someone who's associated with that hospital, would be great, but its not a requirement. I've seen a lot of recommendations for Newton Wellesley Pediatrics, but I'd prefer something a little more centric to the Watertown area. If anyone has any other recommendations, please let me know.

Thank you!

We have been very happy with Dr. Lisa Thayer at Harvard Vanguard in Watertown. She's been our pediatrician since the birth of our first daughter almost 7 years ago, and we think she's great. We also like the other doctors in the practice and have seen Dr. Khoury and Dr. Mitchell. The nurses are also terrific. There is plenty of parking and a convenient location (easy to get diapers at Target right after an appt!).

I also use the pediatric department at Harvard Vanguard in Watertown, on Arsenal Street. There is free parking which is a plus. I think the whole department is wonderful. My son has seen Dr. Slater for 6 years (since birth). I gave birth at Mt. Auburn and one of the pediatricians from the HVMA practice did the first exam there. I do not think Dr. Slater is accepting new patients, but the others are. My son has seen Dr. Khoury and Dr. Stepanian if an immediate appointment is needed when Dr. Slater is unavailable, and I have liked them as well.

I also had both my kids at Mt. Auburn and LOVED it there, can't say enough good things about the staff and hospital as a whole. Our pediatrician is Diane Pigula, out of the Beaver Brook Pediatrics office in Waltham, on Waverley Oaks Rd. It's actually in the Watertown/Belmont section of Waltham, on the line, and right off Trapelo Rd. Dr. Pigula is very friendly, warm, and never makes you panic or feel inadequate as a new mom! There are four doctors in the practice, and I like them all. I have always been able to get right in that same day with a sick child, and they are also great about calling back after hours if you get the answering service. Dr. Pigula and the rest of the staff has privileges at Mt. Auburn, and someone stopped in every single day to check the girls when they were born (I had c-sections so I was in the hospital for four full days). The number there is ###-###-####. Good luck with everything!!

We see Pearl Riney of Epstein, Ballanger and Goldstein, and we LOVE her. She is great with my son, is very thorough, takes the time to answer all our questions, has great call-in hours, and responds to us when we call very quickly. She's at 575 Mt. Auburn Street in Cambridge.

Good luck!

Dr. Richard Kerbel, Mt. Auburn Street, Watertown - he has privileges at Newton-Wellesley, Mt. Auburn Hospital and Children's in Boston.

When you give birth the hospital will call him and he comes over and gives your baby a once-over. I like his style b/c I'm a worrier and he's kind of laid back (but knowledgeable and serious of course) so he helps me not to overreact about stuff. I think everyone in Watertown goes to him - all of my neighbors anyway. Just saw him this morning in fact for 2 year well check. And he's ON TIME; never waited for an appointment. Also, good about letting you come in for sick visits last minute. My 2 cents. Good luck!

Hi J.,

I live in Watertown and take my daughter to Dr. Aida Yavshayan on Mt. Auburn St. It's a small practice but she gets everything she needs there, and she is 12! ###-###-####. It is convenient and I can always get an appointment. The doctor is very warm and caring, and I must say, very thorough! Good luck!
