Pediatrician (AND Ob/Gyn) with CPMC

Hello all! I am looking for a pediatrician for my two sons, and would like to try to find someone who is associated with California Pacific Medical Center. We have received such excellent care in their Pediatric ER, and it is very close to our home, so I figure that is a good place for this new-San Franciscan to start. There are a few things we are looking for in a ped, but one of the most important at this time is that they be VERY understanding about delaying and spacing out vaccinations. Due to moving multiple times in the last year and a half, insurance issues, and our 2 year old having a cold basically the whole winter, he is behind in his vaccinations, so we must have someone who is going to be kind and understanding as we get him caught up. I had my head chewed off by one doctor I was interviewing and I do NOT care to repeat that experience again. (Other than that, an office that is working smoothly, child-friendly waiting area and obviously someone with good bedside manner are also important.)

I am also looking for an Ob/Gyn ... or really, a gynecologist. I've had major hormone changes over the past year, and need someone who is going to help me get to the bottom of the various health issues I've been having. I would like to see a woman, also with CPMC, who is kind and thorough, who gets back to her patients in a timely fashion, and is going to stay on top of things until we are able to get some conclusive answers. I guess it doesn't matter how she is in the delivery room, as I wouldn't be seeing her as an OB, but since I believe that is a good indicator of the kind of doctor an OB/Gyn is, a positive birth experience with her is certainly a plus.

Any help you can provide would be deeply appreciated. Thank you!

~ R.

R.,
My gynecologist is Dr. Jane Fang. She is excellent and actually spends time with you and answers all questions. I never feel like she is rushing in and out. I also have several friends who have used her for both obstetrics and gynecology and we all feel the same. Good luck! C.

Hi R.,

I like my pediatrician a lot. He is in the same practice as Dr. Rosenbaum (mentioned by another mom). His name is Dr. Brock Bernsten.
Regarding OB/Gyn, I REALLY like my dr. Her name is Dr. Julie Huh.
You can look at Yelp for both of them. Yelp would have reviews as well as their phone numbers.

Good luck!

Dr. Secily Bason-Mitchell at CPMC is an EXCELLENT OB/GYN. I have been going to her for almost 15 years now. I had fertility issues and she was caring, supportive, and helpful.

Pediatrician: Golden Gate Pediatrics, which is right across the street from CPMC is great. Our doc is Dr. Ernster who is absolutely awesome.

I have to recommend my old docs when I was part of CPMC (I now have Kaiser, not by choice). For pediatrician, we used Dr. Stephen Rosenbaum, ###-###-####, 3838 Cal, Ste 111. I was in the hospital for 5 days before having c-section b/c I never dilated and every nurse on staff highly recommended Dr. Rosenbaum. He really takes his time with you and listens to you and the child and I really liked him. Because he takes his time with you, be prepared to wait a little longer for your appointments. His staff are awesome, too.

For OB/GYN, I would totally recommend Dr. Frederica Loftquist at 3838 Cal, Ste 103, ###-###-####. I switched to her when my original OB/GYN moved to the Peninsula to be closer to her new baby. Dr. Loftquist also has been voted the best OB, etc. in the Bay Area. Good luck!

I have been very happy wth Dr Laurie Green who is my ob/gyn at CPMC and delivered both my kids. We also have Dr William Gonda who has practices across from CPMC on California and in Mill Valley.....he is fantastic.
