Hi Everyone,
I was wondering when you started to give regular oatmeal instead of the baby cereal? I was thinking regular oatmeal might be too hard to digest and that I should stick with the baby cereal a bit longer with my 15 month old. Thanks for your help!

What can I do next?

I think my daughter started early, before 12 mon. She loves it. Try mixing it with pureed fruit. At 18 months she loves it with a can of diced pears, peaches...anything. Its fun watching her make a mess of herself.

my daughter was eating regular oat meal as soon as she quit baby food. that was like at 10 months. i would still use her juice to flavor it and i made hers thicker so she didnt make a mess. but i your worried about it being too thick then make it a little more liquidy and slowly build up the thickness. :)

Hi M.,
Both my boys started regular oatmeal by the time they each turned one. Just add a little extra water so it doesn't "gag."

Hey M.,
I switched my daughter to instant oatmeal, the individually packaged and flavored ones, when she was 12 monthes without any issues. She liked it much more then the baby cereal I couldn't feed her fast enough!
Hope this helps!

My older son started eating baby cereals at 4 months. By month 9 he was eating pretty much whatever we had. Son #2 was 5 months and was not quiet as fast with the regular table food but by month 15 I think both were eating whatever we had.

My kids use to help me eat my oatmeal as soon as they could stand up with help by my chair. After that I would try making them a bowl & they still only wanted to eat out of mommy's bowl. At 15 months she should have a few teeth... so she should be able eat a bit more.

Best thing is try a bit or two and see how she does... even if it's from your bowl.

My daighter got regular oatmeal as soon as she started "chunky" foods, probably around 8 months. If I ever have another child I won;t do baby cereal at all, just run regular cereal through the food processor... that's all it is!
