Hello all my fellow Mothers~ I am seeking some advice with my pregnancy. I am 14 weeks with my 4th pregnancy but this will be my 3rd child. I am showing a bit. I however feel my heart racing at times, and feel like I can't even walk 2 steps without almost passing out. I can't breathe well and when I eat something even if it's just a little bite I feel like the pressure on my upper abdomen is going to explode. I don't remember feeling this with any of the other 3 babies. I am so uncomfortable that I can't move sometimes. Like I mentioned I am only 14 weeks so I know the baby can't be big enough to be lying the wrong way or causing this because my uterus is only above my pubic bone at this point. Also sometimes after I eat I feel so full that I get pains in my chest. Almost like I am working too hard to breathe. If anyone has any advice or have maybe experienced similar symptoms please let me know. I am almost at my whits end with feeling like this. Your second trimester is suppose to be your best. So far this has been far worse than my first trimester. I am half tempted to call my Ob but don't really want to bother him over something that may be silly, but I honestly literally feel like I am dying sometimes it gets so bad.....I don't know what to do....Like I said any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks to all in advance.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks to all of you for your responses. I did call my OB/GYN and have an appt tomorrow. He doesn't seem too concerned but wants to see me anyway. He also said for me not to hesitate calling him for anything. If it's something that bothering me no matter how big or small he wants to know about it. Once again thanks to you all :)

Please don't take this the wrong way, but this is why your OB is there. For you to call when something is going on that does not seem normal. I'm sure everything is okay, but just what if something is wrong? You don't want to not call because you don't want to bother your doctor. I suggest that you call and set up an appt. This is why they are there, to help find out what all these weird feelings are inside of that belly!

Call your OB. They are used to expectant mothers asking questions. I was probably the worst offender! :-)

Each pregnancy is different so it's not suprising you are experiencing different symptoms.

I am about 11 weeks pregnant and am already having difficulty breathing sometimes. I experienced that in my last pregnancy, too. It usually gets better if I sit down, relax, and take a few deep breaths. For some reason, I've noticed it more when I'm in the shower, but I'm not sure if there is a connection or not.

I also experienced the same "full" sensation you described in my first pregnancy. I had been looking forward to eating a lot, since I love food, but it was very difficult for me to eat anything throughout the whole pregnancy. I would be come so uncomfortable after eating even the smallest meals. I never experienced pain in my chest, but when I felt very full, I would get a LOT of pressure in my head.

Anyway, it never hurts to call your doctor or their nurse.

Congrats on the baby!

Dear J.,
I am not sure on what advice I could offer you, it could be a number of things. I strongly suggest that you contact your doctor and don't feel like it's a silly thing. If you have had 4 pregnancies and three children then it coould be sign of some sort. I strongly urge you contact your doctor and never be ashamed to call about somethign you think is silly cause it may not be to your doctor. IF your doctor gets frustrated with you when youcall for certain symptoms then maybe it's time to find a new doctor. Just suggestions, every pregnancy is different you will never have the same feeling or symptoms with a pregnancy. Let me know how things go for you, best wishes.

I would not hesitate to call my OB and at least talk to his nurse. Mother's intuition is sometimes the best thing to listen to. I know I had trouble breathing at times or should say was short of breath but that's when I was so big, it couldn't be helped. Don't wait. Do it for your kids. Good luck

Hi J.,

I hope that by now you have contacted your OB. What you're feeling is probably pregnancy related, although not normal in my books.

Your OB needs to know about any changes that developes between visits. They assume all is well unless they hear otherwise. You're not bothering the DR, you'll talk to a nurse who may be able to reassure you or she will pass the information on to the Dr. That's why they are there for help and reassurance.

Don't be afraid to communicate with your Dr anytime. If they make you feel like you're a bother then maybe he or she is not the one for you.

I hope all is well with you and baby. I wish you the best with your pregnancy!

K. :-)

Hi J.,
I just want to let you know that I had the "out of breath" feeling when I was pregnant (I only have 1), and went to the cardiologist...turns out it was a racing heart due to sensitivity to adrenaline that some pregnant women get, he said (called Inappropriate Sinus Tachycardia I think). It went away after I delivered, but I did take meds while I was pregnant because it interfered with my sleep. This was later in my pregnancy, though. I would encourage you to go to a cardiologist, because no one else knew what I had-- one doctor said I had asthma! The cardiologist knew almost immediately what it was, although he did an echocardiogram (or something like that) to be sure.
I dont' know about the eating--I never felt good, even in my 2nd trimester, but I dont' recall being unable to eat until my 3rd trimester. I'd say call your doctor. If you feel like you're bothering him/her, you need a different doctor! Check out the reviews if you want to try a different one...
Blessings,
Lynn

Call your doctor, even if you speak to a nurse. To me it sounds like your having a difficult time, and it could effect your own health! Maybe your developing some health issues due to your pregnancy that need to be taken care of? These kind of things are why the doctor's their, and it's his job to be concerned too! They don't know your so uncomfortable, and miserable if you don't let them know. Look out for yourself, just as you would your kids, or husband, it's important! Give them a call soon, to me it sounds serious, and all preganacies are different, so look into it! Good Luck, and take care of yourself.

Please call your ob. It may seem trivial to you, but this could be an indicator of something else like maybe you are sick and it has nothing to do with pregnancy. It could also be nothing major but your doctor needs to know just in case.

J.,
You need to see your doctor right away. Feeling like your abdomen is going to explode after just a few bites is NOT normal. Have you had an ultrasound yet to rule out ectopic pregnancy? What tests have you had done already? The faintness could be from standing up too fast; but at 14 weeks it's a bit early for that to happen. (In pregnancy, it can be caused by standing for a long time, such as when cooking; because your center of gravity and bloodflow is skewed by the growing baby. But again, at 14 weeks, this is early to have that problem.)
Please see your doctor ASAP and let us know how you do.
(And congratulations on the pregnancy!)
L. (with 5 children)

CALL you OB! That's why they are there! It's best to get the answers from him/her. You might need to be checked out. It could be as simple as dehydration or it could be something else. I would want to find out to be sure. Nothing is silly if your motherly instinct tells you something is wrong.
