I am looking for ideas for the "customary gift bags" that children take home from birthday parties. I am having my daughters 1 year party and the children that are coming range in age from 2 yrs through 9 years and I have absolutely no idea what to send them home with. Any ideas would be VERY helpful!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks for all of your ideas!
In the end I decided to make a little "favor" that said thanks for sharing my first birthday...hugs and kisses! and filled with chocolate hugs and kisses. For the kids I took those and attached a little craft (age appropriate) that they could do with their moms. Thanks again!

1. Pinata's are great. Do 2 one for the younger group and 1 for the older group. Buy white lunch bags and setup decorating tables with stickers, markers, crayons, glitter ect. Let them decorate their own goody bags before they do the pinata. Thats always fun.

2)Gift certs to friendly's or McDonalds are good too.

Number 1 is my favorite. It works everytime for my 3 boys.

Hi! I started crocheting. Why don't you crochet little gift bags, they are nice, very much in demand, and one sken of yarn can make at least twelve bags or more, depending on the size. The cost would be about six bucks depending on the yarn you get.

That would be a good idea...

All the kids in our family are boys, so we put bouncy balls, books, card games (like Go Fish), packs of sugarless gum, matchbox cars, and sometimes a few pieces of candy. Last those little hand-held games where you have to put the little balls in holes or the ones filled with water where you have to put the rings on a peg were a big hit. The little ones (2and under) are harder, but they also don't expect as much.
good luck

Since summer is on its way, why not get a sand bucket and shovel. You can just give that or add another beach toy. Great for all kids!

We actually just had my son's first birthday party on Saturday. We had children that ranged in age from 11 months to 10 years. I bought everything at Dollar Tree. I bought plastic baskets ($1.00 each) and each child got three things in the basket. The babies each got a book, snack cups, and baby washcloths. The older children got a puzzle, flashcards, and playdoh. The oldest girl got a diary, fuzzy pens, and a pretty notebook. The oldest boy got a Bingo game, a book, and an activity packet. Goodluck! Have fun at your party!

Hi L.-

I did gift bags for both of kids' parties this year and I left out the candy! That goes over well with the parents. You don't want to send them home with candy after eating cake and ice cream and shortly after Halloween!

I would put something gender neutral in the bags. To make the bags gender neutral, just buy two birthday stamps in the scrapbooking part of the store and stamp them on plain white bags.

Good luck with the party!

For my son's 3rd party I gave $5.00 gift card to Barns and Nobles book store, with some candy and bubbles I used the boxes that look like Chinese food containers instead of the typical goodie bags. This year my daughter turned 13 I gave Best Buy cards, mini mad libs and pencils. My daughter created her our own bags one year by using the white lunch bags and putting stickers, writing each guests name with different designs drawn by her. Good Luck

When my son turned one we did the gift bag thing too. I put a few pieces of candy at the bottom. I then put in an activity pad/coloring book, crayons, stencils, and pencils. The kids loved them. I'm not sure what you are looking for, but thought I'd share what we did. Good Luck!

are they completely necessary given her age? If you feel they are, customize them. Go to a dollar store or an inexpensive book store for the girls/boys able to read and pick up some coloring books and crayons for the younger then for the youngest, Fishies from Pepperige Farm, who doesn't love them!
good luck

We just went to a birthday party a few weeks ago. For the kids how about a webkinz. They are great for kids 3 and up.
