Need Help with Ideas for Last Trip Before Baby Comes...

It's finally hitting home that we are preggers! It's our first baby and my husband and I are thinking of taking one last trip together before he comes.

Any ideas for an inexpensive getaway? I'm due in August so we are planning maybe for springtime (which is coming fast!). We're from the Boston area and prefer something not too far away but also not too close.

Thanks!

What can I do next?

I would take a trip up to Maine, or down to the cape. Don't do just one trip. Try doing a few long weekends as well. Trust me! We love the Kennebunkport area, it's not to far to travel in the car, but yet feels like you're far away from home. On the cape we always hit the Mashpee area. Its' got a nice little common for shopping, and close to Falmouth for other shopping and the boat docks. Whatever you choose, definitely do something. Enjoy!! and Congratulations!

Hi P.,

Congratulations on your upcoming motherhood.

My husband and I went to Hyannis last year during the Memorial Day long weekend. We had our son in June.
I was a very inexpensive, but great trip. I was really swollen, so I didn't get to do as much. However, just sitting in the hotel room and spending quality time with him was so awesome.

Just remember after you have your baby, you are not going to get much of a chance to do nothing. So do nothing as much as you can NOW!

Good luck,

T.

Hi, congrats on your pregnancy! When I was pretty far along, we went up to the Monadnock region in NH and had a great mini-vacation. Bed-and-breakfast, nice scenery, a night at the theater, and several relaxed hikes (some on even ground, one hike a short way up Monadnock).

I'm sure you'll have a nice time no matter where you go.

Hi P.,

If you and your husband are up for a plane ride, Bermuda is always a beautiful and easy get-away from Boston. It's a direct and short flight from Logan although I'm not sure about the weather during the springtime. . . when my husband and I went there, we enjoyed the warm weather and there were lots of nice sights to see.

Enjoy the babymoon!

Try priceline.com. If you don't mind taking the risk you can get a great deal on plane tickets and the hotel. Bid low!

My hubby and I did a long weekend to Bahamas in April when I was about 6 months pregnant. Prices were reasonable and the plan trip was not too long. It was wonderful to just lay on the beach all day!

Other places you might look at are Virginia beach, Outer Banks in North Carolina, Nantucket:)

Depending on how far along you are would recommend wearing support hose for the plan trip (big help for sitting with feet down!)

Have a great time and enjoy your time of just the two of you:)

Hi P.,
Have you considered a B&B in Nantucket? If you go before July, you should be able to find something at a really reasonable price.
Good luck,
R.

My husband and I always love New York City. I guess we love the hustle and bustle of it all. It is one city that you most likely will not go to once you have kids so I say check it out. They have great tourist stuff....like double decker bus tours and boat cruises out to the Statue of Liberty. Central Park is worth checking out too...very nice!
