The Little Gym in Champlin does Birthday Bashes. They are super fun and they do almost all the work!

The park!! My daughter was born in late July and for the first 3-4 yrs I always had her birthday party at a park. You can grill out,the kids could play and adults visit while watching them and the best part..clean up is easy. When she got older I started doing the pizza/ hamburger type parties. Loved July birthday.

B. I see you work full time - does your daughter go to daycare? When my daughter turned 3 I did a b.day party at daycare - I brought cake and 2 or 3 outdoor games w/prizes for everyone. My daughter had a blast!! This way there were no gifts involved as none of the other kids knew it was happening and she was with the people she was with daily! It was easy for me and the inhome daycare provider thought it was a great idea.
Good luck!!

All of the Indoor playgrounds (The Blast, Lookout Ridge, Edinborough) have birthday parties, the MN zoo, Little Kids Big City in Woodbury, McDonalds playplaces have parties, you could rent an outdoor playground pavillion in your town. It all depends on how much you want to spend.

A local community outdoor wading pool is a where we had my DS 3rd birthday. I kept the refreshments simple. The kids had a blast and it was free. Schedule it for right after lunch so there is less chance of thunderstorms.

Lookout Ridge is a great place for a party, and not far from you (it's in Woodbury). A little on the spendy side, but probably in the same range as most places. Also, the Science Museum has parties that are really cool, but are on the more expensive side.

Good luck!

Hi B.:
You could plan a day at any of several places that plan childrens parties, such as Chucky Cheese. Since he is so young yet he may not remember his 3rd birthday party. I would rent a pavillion at a park and have people bring grills and some meat and a dish to pass. Order a birthday cake for him and get some ice cream. Usually the park pavillions have kitchens and bathrooms and are close enough to a play area for the kids. The kids can have a lot of outdoor fun and some good food and the parents can get some time to talk while they watch the kids. At the end of the day all you need to do is wipe everything down and sweep the floor and go home.
