I am having a hard time choosing a good daycare for my 18 month old son, I want something that is not too expensive weekly and is open at 6 30 am to 6 pm just in case I need to work some overtime. Would appreciate hearing from you all with experience or have heard about any day care facilities/churches. Thanks so much!

What can I do next?

Good luck I am in the same area and looking for my 2 yr old. I don't think I can afford these crazy day cares. Thinkgs used to be more reasonable. I am scared of babysitters and nannys. You just never know. I can't find any teenagers who want to sit any more. With my two older ones things weren't this hard. Churches won't take the little ones for a full day and mother's day out is too short for my college shedule.

Please bear in mind that any and all suggestions (or warnings) from me might be a little out-of-date. I've been staying home with my kids for more than 2 years now. ;) But, I wanted to try to help if I could, so thought I'd still answer your request.

One daycare I would NOT recommend EVER to anyone is Love to Learn (behind West Town Mall). Our son went there for 6 months, and was the biggest factor in my decision to quit my job and stay home with him. It was AWFUL by the time we pulled him out (at 13 months). It was good when we started him there, but we had TONS of issues with LOTS of things over the course of him being there ... I would avoid it!

We looked at Ebeneezer Methodist Church. It is (or was, at least) quite expensive! But, it seemed like a wonderful facility, and we liked it very much when we visited. And, we've heard good things in the past about it.

I have friends that have used Morning Star and Nannies (quite expensive, too), and have heard mixed reviews of both. I'm sure you're going to get varying opinions from parents about daycares. ;) I would definitely make unannounced visits to those you are most interested in ... to get at least a partial "real" look at the centers. Good luck!

Just FYI ... you can view state licensed centers in your area by visiting http://www.state.tn.us/humanserv/childcare/providers-map.htm. It has a lot of information on there that might help you narrow your search before visiting your favorites.

Do NOT take your child to Tracy's Learning Center in Karns. She is abusive to her employees.

Hi, I use to be a Nanny before having my son, and with that I heard alot about daycares. The mothers day out that I am putting my son in is suppose to be a good daycare. CENTRAL BAPTIST CHURCH it is in ftn.city not west knoxville I know but still they have good prices and are open till 6- n630 pm which can be hard to find. The family I use to work for are very good with choosing based on the health reports and so fourth and this is where they put their son. Also, I have had a cousin to work there and enjoy it along with my sister-in-law working there for 7 yrs. which both of her girls went there and did GREAT. There are computer classes for them when they get older and they sing lots of church songs and do programs with them, such as,plays, musicals, and you always have so kind of art project they've done coming home with you to put up on the fridge.
Sorry to rambled on, I am really looking forward to my son to start there next month. I hope this helped and I hope you find a place you and your family loves,T.
