Hey ladies I need another vehicle. I need something reliable, good on gas and not expensive. I would like to stay under $24k. I have 2 children so it would need some room, too. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks bunches.

What can I do next?

I bought a 1 year old Ford Taurus for $10,900. It was a great deal on a car that had been a rental car. I put a good down payment on it and my payments are only $230 a month. My mechanic told me to buy it because he rarely sees any Ford Taurus in the shop. I have had it for 18 months and it has only been in the shop to put tires on it and change the oil.

Honda Element. Great gas mileage, great resale value, great price. Our 1st was hit by a drunk driver and totalled 2 days before our daughter was born. When it came time to pick a new car, it was a no-brainer for us. We just got another one! This time we opted for 4WD instead of 2 because we like to go skiing. Excellent cargo room and easy to keep clean because it has the plastic floors. Also, the rear seats flip up and we've moved a lawn mower and washing machine in it without a problem. So my husband uses it when he needs it.

do you need a third row? if not look at a satern vue. they are compact on the outside which is good for a short mom like me. they are roomy on the inside with enough cargo space for my very large stroller and a weeks worth of groceries. saterns come standard with the best airbags and safety extras that you pay more for with other car brands. i think that they are about 23,000 for a 2008.

I haven't read the other posts, but Consumer Reports just came out with their 2008 Auto issue. Always a great guide on big purchases. It give the top vehicles under 25K. Take a look! Good luck...

Hi N.,
I have been there, started out in a Thunderbird and when my second came along decided to get a van. We loved having the open space of the middle seats removed and them sitting in the back row. It was great for changing diapers at the park/store/anywhere, I knew it was clean! Tons of room to put groceries. Relaxing space when traveling if hubby is driving. Easy and comfy to drive. Most are affordable now, though I usually avoid buying brand new. If you need NEW, just about any are good, the Honda Odyssey ranks very high. We have a Pontiac Montana, though we are in a situation needing bigger to fit 5 car seats in now! I love my Montana, won't get rid of it. It is so comfortable and roomier than some others. definitely go for the extended wheel base! At least with a van you have room to grow and you can take "tag-alongs" with you, too! Hope you find something you are happy with!
