My Stupid Dog!!

I would be out back throwing snow balls at the dog but then I am mean like that. :p

Di, a Golden Retriever, ya know, a water dog? She hated the water. She could swim and all but when we would go to rivers or streams when it was hot she would wade in, cool off, get out and shake and look at us like I am done now! We can go home.

Ok, you need to find his fav treat to entice him to come back in from the snow - it will work. It took a treat trail for my new puppy to learn about stairs the ups and downs!

My lab HAS to sit in my seat no matter what - should I have gotten up to go pee or to get a drink he will be in my seat and be upset about leaving it.

My maltipom, well he is still a puppy so I think his puppy quirks are just that and maybe one day he will grow out of it.

my yellow lab .. who is supposedly a water dog is terrified of water when he walks around the pool in our yard he makes sure hes a good 3 feet away from the edge..wen we got him years ago it was december and the pool cover was frozen over and he had a ball sliding back n forth on it.. the cover was still frozen by the end of february but by then he was much heavier and ended up falling through the ice n my dad had to hang over the edge and pull him out i think that scarred him wen summer came we tried putting him in the pool to swim and he haaaated it.. he loves the snow but hates the rain.. figure that one out? and last but not least when we take him for a walk he MUST hold he leash in his mouth the entire time until we get back home.. he may be a little neurotic.. hes 110lbs of big baby he was also scared to death of our cat we used to have and little dogs terrify him

Our 60ish pound lab thinks he's a lap dog and will want to sit on anyone willing to have him on their lap.
He is also a 'hugger' - he will give you what I call his 'sexy eyes' - where he kinda squints, lifts one paw on each of your shoulders and 'hug'. He will try to lick you to death in this mode as well.
He also likes to bark at any animal on TV - real or cartoon.

My dog loves the snow so much that he sometimes gets too excited to pee. Instead he runs around eating snow and looking up at the sky in awe of the falling snow.

He also hates water but doesn't mind baths. Doesn't like to get brushed unless I'm brushing the cat and then Milo jumps up and noses his way under the brush.

I steals my socks and underwear out of the dirty clothes basket and hides them in a pile under the bed so I have to hide them in the bottom of the basket or gather them from under the bed.

He barks at everyone and since he has a 5 second memory he'll bark at you even if you just left the room.

Yes he's stupid and a pita but he's mine.

Oh my gosh - this is so funny!!! I knew I couldn't be the only one with a funny dog!!

As for mine, I have a fenced-in back yard with a deck - many times in the morning I will let him out to pee but he will NOT go off the deck even tho I know he has to go!!! He'll just stand there - then I'll bring him in and take him out the front door and he'll gladly go off the porch and pee! This isn't every day but it's just silly! There's no rhyme or reason - rain, snow doesn't really affect his behavior.

The other weird thing he does is chase a squirrel. Doesn't sound weird till you know that the "squirrel" is his tail!!! My daughter will hold his tail and "encourage" him to chase the squirrel - what makes it really weird is sometimes he'll be going in a circle so fast he runs into the walls or furniture and just about knocks himself out!!!

He's eight years old and still acts like a baby!! We love our goofy dog!!!!

Bubbles, aka Trouble is a Jack Russell Terrier/Schnauzer mix who is 11 years old. He thinks he is two. We also babysit our grandbabies. Let me
tell you if anyone tried to touch one of them he would tear them apart. Love
how he loves them. So they are the best!!!!! Everyone needs a dog. Your
dog sounds like a hoot. Let's admit they do make us laugh. We will all live
longer because of our furry friends.

Grady had to be taught to go down stairs too!! It was HILARIOUS!! The kids taught him one step at a time - it was great! I should've recorded that!!!

Grady doesn't like to get wet - I swear there are times he's a cat!! he LOVES to EAT the snow, drink water off of the back deck stairs, drink out of an empty flower pot - but demands FRESH water in the house - if he drinks out of it? snotty little pup looks at us like - uuummm? you gonna refresh that now?

And ohh yeah!! the boys want me to drive down to your house today so they can get some snow!! SERIOUSLY!!!

My last dog was very quirky. He did not like to be dirty and would have died before he ever thought of actually sitting down outside on grass/dirt etc. He also hated to get his paws wet, so if it was raining out, he would keep his back legs on the concrete and only put his front paws into the yard and aim the pee stream out. He also hated to be cold. I had to find a huge fleece jacket for him that he wore anytime the temperature dipped below 40. When i'd wash it, he'd whine until I put it back on him. Forget snow - luckily we live in Georgia. But with the double whammy of being cold and wet, he'd just give us a look like "are you crazy - I'll just hold it until it melts." When he slept in the bed, he wanted to be completely under the covers, head and all. And then on top of all of that, he had the usual quirks that all great danes seem to have (think they're lap dogs, leaning, etc).

Our new puppy, schnoodle (75% poodle, 25% schnauzer) watches EVERY move I make, trying to decipher what's happening next. Now I know how it feels to have a bodyguard LOL.

She HATES the rain. We have her pee-patch trained for those days, and when we go on our boat. But the funny thing is she likes to hang her butt off the pee-patch sometimes, so she's making a mess on the floor (which defeats the purpose).

She loves to grab socks and run off with them. Anytime she runs off it's a dead give-away that she's gotten hold of something she knows she's not supposed to have.

my ex kept our dog, a 20 lb shiba inu, looks like a fox, and loves the snow. He bounces up and down like a fox across the yard as you try to chase him in. He also acts like a cat and hates to be petted for too long and acts like hes superior to you. Oh and he can catch birds in the air.
my parents have a huge lab and the lab thnks it 20 lbs and a tiny lap dog, it plays and tries to run between the couch and the table...a few inches, one time she ran so fast and her collar got stuck to the door on the coffee table and ripped it straight off an continued running and playing clueless with the door stuck to her collar

Our white shepherd wants a clean spot to do her business, I usually have to shovel a place for her. Otherwise she bites at it. Last night she couldn't find her ball and kept biting snow mounds until she found it.

Two of our cats drink from the tap, the other will gracefully put her paw in the dog's bowl and lick off the paw.

Our GSD has never even seen snow, but from pictures I've seen of other GSD's they seem to LOVE it. Not sure ours would.... she doesn't walk on the grass when it is wet with dew. She tip toes across, pees, then hops/skips her way as quick as she can to the sidewalk. Or she'll hop out onto the asphalt (cul-de-sac) and take the long way back around via the drive-way and then sidewalk to the front porch. She "Keeps off the grass!" lol

That's funny. We had a dog we got as a puppy one Christmas, so all he knew was snow at first. Then in the spring he couldn't figure out where to pee because all the snow was melting! He kept looking for snow and was very confused. :)

Hahhaaa silly dog reminds me of Nimrod on Mr Poppers Penguins.

My dalmation/heeler mix is a very territorial dog. I am her person. when she is near me, she stands between my legs. It's like that is her spot to claim me. When my daughter's little tiny papillion comes near me, Angel runs and stands between my legs to "guard" me. She will dart out and chase away the little dog, then run back to me. She also wakes up my 10 year old by jumping on his bed and licking his face. If I go to pat his back, she will lay on him to keep me from hitting him. After all, since I'm her person she can't bark or growl at me, but she sure can keep me from touching her 2nd person!

if CoCoa sees a cotton ball, he runs & hides in a bedroom. LOL! He's had so many ear infections that he actually cringes when he sees them - even if they're out for an art project or for my nails. Big ole' 80lb dog hiding from a cotton ball.

He also will not sniff any form of liquid. Coffee, tea, soda, beer, etc - nope the dog hates liquids other than water. He won't even try milk!

On the other hand, he's an absolute freak about grooming & will even bring the scissor & brush to me. He's also been known to knock our other dog out of the way....to be the one & only for grooming!

Our other dog, ChockO, is also insane in his own way. It takes forever for him to calm down enough for me to clip the hair between/above his eyes! (dang that sheepdog hair!) My 15yo son & I have to tag-team him to get him corraled & calm enough to groom him. & CoCoa has to be locked in a bedroom while we work on ChockO!

Dig him a hole in the snow for him to pee in. That's what we had to do in Ohio for our dogs.

My dog isn't the brightest star in the sky. He goes outside in a thunderstorm, finds the highest spot in the yard, and barks at the thunder. Relentlessly. Also, as soon as it starts raining, he goes out into the yard and just sits there. You can't call him in or anything- he won't budge. Now I see where the saying comes from " Too dumb to come in out of the rain". Yep- that's my dog. However, he is the happiest little fella you'll ever see. Ignorance is bliss, I guess.

In the future have a shovel ready when it snows and dig a patch of grass out for your pup. You will be doing him and you a favor. this is a common thing for dogs. In a way it's not stupid at all. He is being a good pup and avoiding messing up anywhere he is not sure you will approve.

I am currently living with my parents and they have 3 outdoor farm dogs (So none of us are really around them that often because they are always off exploring the wooded area of my parent's property, chasing cows, or getting into some other sort of trouble). The only quirk that I can think of is that one of the males (Named Berlin) hates coming into the house. When the weather is really bad (Like tornado weather, or when it gets VERY cold) we will bring all the dogs into the house. It takes two people to pick him up and get him through that door. Once he's past the door, he's fine. He'll find a nice comfy spot, lay down, and enjoy the warmth of the house. It's the same battle `trying to get him out of the house. He just hates that damn door! Lol

Oh, wow! Yeah, we have a big obnoxious lab that we got for a family Christmas gift and he really pushes our buttons! First of all, we are most definitely "cat people" and have our 2 little old ladies (11 & 10 year old cats). So, we (I) thought it would be great if we got a big dog who could "grow up" with our daughter and hopefully ward off any unwanted visitors.

Well, this guy is smart and very eager to learn, but he's also very, very pushy! He shoves around his 65lbs and knocks my daughter over, trips me and DH, and torments the cats. We can't complain, too much, though, because he has zero aggression towards us (or the cats, or other dogs) and is very protective of our yard! We just got a companion dog for him (a chihuahua/terrier mix) and it's hilarious when the 4 of them (cats & dogs) get all riled up!

The big cat (she's about 12lbs) gets mad at the big dog (65lbs) for standing too close to her; he irritates the little dog (he's about 8 lbs) by constantly sniffing his rear and stepping on him; and the little dog is infatuated with the little cat (she's about 6lbs) and stalks her all around the house! The little cat just wants to find a warm and quiet hiding spot where everybody will just leave her alone! Sometimes, we just sit around cracking up at the "dynamics" of our zoo!
