Moving to the Sugar Land/MO City Area & Looking for Pediatrician

My husband and I will be moving to the area with our 15 month old twins next month.

I'd like to see if any one has recommendations for pediatricians. We currently see Dr. Bhakta at TCP in The Woodlands and LOVE him but I haven't seen much on that practice in Sugar Land.

We noticed Le Pediatrics the other day (about 5 min from our house) but don't know anything about it other than it seems to only have 1 doctor in the practice.

I'm also interested in any feedback on:

Dr. Ho (TCP Sugar Land)
Drs. Urbani, Raymond Khan & Dean Gsomer (All Care Pediatrics on Hwy 6)
Town Center Pediatrics

Thanks!

So What Happened?

Thank you so much for all your recommendations. I've decided to go with Dr. Gmoser for a few reasons: *so many positive reviews about him & his office; *less than a mile from our house; *privileges at TCH. Plus, I spoke with Judy just a little while ago & she was so helpful.

If things don't work out for whatever reason, I'll probably try Dr. Danziger at TCP. Dr. Ho is not taking any new patients unfortunately.

Thanks again!

I know you already decided, but I had to add my 2 cents.

My son has been seeing Dr. Hogarth at Town Center Pediatrics since he was 10 months old. She is also associated with Texas Childrens. She is wonderful with my son and really listens to me as a parent. Her and the office staff there have been wonderful to us. They have a separate sick, well and even new born waiting areas.

The one thing that I really love about their office is that they take their time with each patient. Although I usually have to wait a little bit I don't mind because I know the doctor and her staff are going to spend any time they need with us.

Hope you find the right pediatrician for you!

I take my 22-month-old to see Dr. Louis Pottkotter. My daughter adores him and actually loves going to the doctor and getting examined. He is very gentle and has always given great advice regarding my daughter. His office is very old-school, but I personally like that. We have never had trouble making an appointment. I have also heard good things about Dr. Ho and Dr. Urbani, so I don't think you can go wrong.

hi B.,
Both my kids see Dr.Hogarth @ Town Center Pediatrics. Dr.Hogarth & Dr.Gilwreath (sp) practiced w.my kids' first dr. and they all merged w/Town Center Peds. years ago. My daughter (17yrs) and my son (8 yrs) have seen Dr. Hogarth on and off for most of their lives when our dr. was not available. When our dr.moved out of state, Dr.Hogarth became their doc.
Dr.Hogarth is really good with both kids and will take the time to call you herself if need be. I had problems w/a prescription she gave my daughter(it wasn't covered by my insurance) and the nurse contacted the pharmacy and found one that was covered. Dr.Hogarth called me later that day to let me know that her nurse found a prescription that was covered by my insurance and that she was calling it in. Dr.Hogarth does listen and is flexable. When she mentioned getting the HPV immunization, my daughter expressed concerns and Dr.Hogarth answered her questions and never belittled her. I love the fact that she talks to the kids and makes them feel as if they are part of the visit.. not just mom and the doc talking over their heads.
My neighbor has been taking her two girls (14 & 10) to Dr.Hogarth for about 5 yrs or so and both girls love her. My friend is very picky regarding docs. as she herself is in the med.field. She has always had good things to say about Dr.Hogarth and the staff.
If Dr.Hogarth is not available to see either of my kids, I have no reservations what so ever about seeing any of the other docs. in the office as I have heard nothing but good things about them all.

I also know two of the girls at the front desk (Aunt and neice~ the neice since she was born) Both are very pleasant and accommodating.
I'm sure if you called, you could set up a meeting w/any of the docs to get aquainted w/them before deciding.

Dr. Ho used to be our pediatrician before he moved to Sugar Land. We were so sad, because being in Pearland, we couldn't drive that far. I LOVED him. He listens to your concerns and makes recommendations. And he has a GREAT bedside manner. He's pretty conservative in his treatments, which I like, as far as medications go. But, when my daughter needed antibiotics, he would prescribe an appropriate one to knock out the problem.

If you go see him, please tell him the DeMarcos say hi and that we miss him!

Love Dr Gmoser, love his practice. No complaints. He's seen all 3 of my kids since the day they were born- now they are 17,13 and 11. Very little turnover in his nursing staff- they have mostly been there since we started going, also. Office is helpful. Kahn is great with kids, also. Some people love him, I had a run in early on (16 years ago) and got off to a bad start with him- some people say he is better with kids than adults- but since then I have had him see my kids and he has been nothing but nice. Atlas is also good w/ kids and parents. My kids would all say the same....

Hi B.! I live in the same area. My daughter sees Dr. Yamauchi ###-###-####. He has been practicing for a long time. My brother who is now 21 had seen him since he was an infant. And now my 2-year old daughter does. The kids love him and he is incredibly knowledgeable and experienced. One of the things I love about him as a parent is that he will help educate you on the health and growth of your child in laymen's terms. He is also very patient to answer all of your questions. When I was very concerned and even worried about my, at the time, 8 month old daughter's high fever, I was able to contact, not the nurse, but the doctor himself by phone! He saved me an office visit and asked me a few questions to figure what the best plan of action was. My daughter got well and it saved me a trip which most any doctor would require.

I take my 2 boys (7 & 4) to Town Center Pediatrics - Dr. Emily Todd. I drive from Alvin (about 45 mins.) to see her & we LOVE her. My oldest son got REALLY sick a couple of years ago & she made it a point to call herself (not someone from ther office) on that Sat. & Sun. just to check and see how he was doing. She also understands taht I am not really big on giving my kids medicine if it is something their bodys will fight off (safely) by themselves. She has 2 small children of her own. She takes the time to sit & talk to you & so does her nurses.

I think you made a great decision. The whole staff at this office is wonderful. We see Dr. Atlas there, but have had occassion to see some of the other doctors. My daughter has a rare enzyme disorder. Her previous Dr. never took the time to learn about it, so we switched, before our first appt. Dr. Atlas had researched the deficiency and is very attentive to my daughters overall health, even her emotional development.

Hi...welcome to the area. Since my daughter was born 2 years ago, we have been going to Town Center Pediatrics. Our dr is Kathi Morgan, but we have seen 2 or 3 other pediatricians there and they are all very nice, very good dr's. They have well and sick waiting rooms, which I love.......I have no complaints whatsoever.

I do know people who go to Raymond Khan as well......they seem to be happy with him, but since we live in Sugar Land off of 59, Town Center Pediatrics was much more convenient for us.

Hope this info helps!!!

I VERY highly recommend Dr. Kahn. His staff is amazing and he has been fantastic with my kids. They always get you in same day if there is a problem and in cases when our appointment has had to change for some reason, Dr. Kahn himself calls to explain (not a nurse or a receptionist, the Doctor!). I have been so impressed with that practice. We have only seen one other doctor besides Dr. Kahn, but have also seen the nurse practicioner for well child visits for my older daughter and she is wonderful too! She is VERY knowledgeable and will call Dr. Kahn in if there is any question about her assessment or if it's something she wants to double check. Sorry for the long post, I just can't say enough good things aboout them. Good luck and welcome to the neighborhood!

Hi B.,

I highly recommend Dr. Dean Gmoser. He is wonderful! I innerviewed him prior to my first son being born. We ended up going with him and have never been disappointed. I have two boys 18 months apart that are now 7 and 9 years old. He was there the day the boys were born and daily for their hospital stay. His office is great. I can call in at 6:30 in the morning and hear from Dr. Gmoser by 7:30 and I am seeing him by 8 to 9 that same day. His only day off is Thursdays. In all these years we have seen a few associates in his abscence, but for the most part we always see him. Some of the other associates in his office are part time, so I would recommend going with one that is there 4 out of the 5 days like Dr. Gmoser. They have Saturday hours for sick kids only and the Doctors rotate coverage for that. We have had to see specialists...ie: GI, allergists, ENT's, etc. and he has always gotten us to the best specialist in the area! We have been very pleased! His referral specialist that sets the appts., xrays, etc is named Liz and she is wonderful and very proffesional and gets you were you need to be in a very timely mannner. Well run, clean office! Nurses are great! I think you would be very pleased with this practice. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to email me. I would be happy to answer any of your questions or concerns!
