A cheaper alternative to living in Fort Myers is living just outside of Fort Myers. There are plently of places in Lehigh Acres under $700 and despite popular belief it is only a 20 min. drive (most of the time). I have also had luck finding reasonabley priced rentals in the Alva/Buckingham area. Try using: http://webapps2.planetrealtor.com/rpa/rnt_search.rnt_sear...
OR
http://www.sssrealty.com/

And, good luck to you.

Hi Libby!

Where are you moving from? Google search "the news-press" its our local newspaper, and there you will be able to find some listings for apartments available to rent. Depending on where in Ft.Myers you will want to live the cost will differ. We moved from Naples because it was too expensive to live there and found that San Carlos Park, in S.Ft.myers had some decent duplexes for rent. Good luck on your search! :)

I think in order to get the kind of help you are looking for you should give your range of cheap. There are renters site you can search. Cheap can be different for everyone. Best wishes and welcome to the area.

depends on your idea of cheap. Anything in Cape coral is atleast $1000. If you try Fort Myers, you MIGHT get around 600 and thats in NOT GOOD areas. Sorry, good luck.

In most the rest of the country 400-700 is kinda standard (unless in a city area).
Something in that price range will not be easy to find around here, since home prices were so high when most folks bought the homes they're now renting out.

I live on Pine Island and I know that a trailer in a descent park here runs from 500-900 a month. Duplexes (2-3br) run ###-###-####, and homes run from ###-###-####. Depending on what your husband does for work and where he is working when you get down here, Pine Island M. be an option. if I can help please ask!

good luck!

Hi, it is all relative. there is alot out there to rent. But do you want a one bedroom or two? Unfortunately, if you want under 600, there are not too many available that are in good areas. I myself, like cape Coral more than Fort Myers, but Fort Myers M. be more affordable. We rent out 2 duplexes in Cape Coral for $900/month(2br/2ba.) We are finding that that is the lowest we can go and it does not cover the mortgage. So for here, that is probably an average price for a nice remodeled duplex in a safe area.
If you go further east toward Lehigh, i'm sure it gets cheaper because you are moving away from the water.
Good luck!

Here is the news press newspaper's website for fort myers you could probably look on there for apartments http://www.news-press.com and here is the cape coral daily breeze newspaper http://hot-ads.com. Well hope that helps alitle bit. I wouldnt' worry much there is alot for rent in the area. If you can just drive around and look there's for rent signs all over. not sure where you are moving from? But you will find something. Just keep calling around fort myers area is usually cheaper then cape coral area. Well good luck and hope that helps some.
