Moving Need Good OB GYN

We're moving to the North OKC/Edmond area and I need some reccomendations. I had an emergency c-section the first time around but am looking to try a v-bac when we have our next child. I need a pro-v bac doctor with experience. I would like them to support a natural child birth as well. I had HELLP syndrome with my son and would like a doctor who knows what i'm talking about. I don't think it matters if they are male or female as long as they are laid back and easy going. we have BCBS insurance.

What can I do next?

Hi M.. I also had a c-sec with my first baby and plan on trying for a vbac with any future pregnancies. As far as my own research, I have found that OU Medical Center is the only hospital in the OK Metro that will allow vbacs. They also have a midwifery staff that is backed by their ob/gyn staff. Their midwives seem to have a lot of experience with vbac and natural birthing. I have not used any of the midwives or doctors at OU but plan to visit them when we start trying to conceive again. I've listed two links below. The first link will take you to their midwife page and the second will take you to their ob/gyn page. I hope this helps. Good luck!

The midwives at Heaven Sent Births may be what you are looking for. They have a LOT of experience with VBACs and specialize in homebirths. The level of care and personal attention you will receive from them all throghout your pregnancy and labor/delivery is second to none. I cannot recommend them highly enough!! They are also leaders in the OK Birth Network and are big advocates for the normal birth process. Check out their website: heavensentbirth.com. Phone is ###-###-####. Best wishes!

Hi M.--hopef you get an answer to this question. Here is my thought on it and it may not be 100% true.

My doc is great--David Melendez--but he doesn't do VBAC. I have HEARD that you have to go to OU Medical Center or one of those hospitals like maybe University to get a VBAC done. That may not be true but that is what I have heard. I cannot not even remember who told me that.

So I don't have an answer for you. I had a C-Section the first time because my son was breech. I am pregnant again and because I love my doctor will be doing the c-sect again.

Hope you get your answer! Good luck. And I will keep reading to find out if you do find out you can go this somewhere besides the OU medical center hospitals.

I go to Dr. Darren Goff at Mercy. He is wonderful. I am not totally sure his stance on natural childbirth because I wanted an epidural. However he is pretty laid back so I think he would probably support it. I know he was really glad to hear that I did prenatal yoga. He pretty much does what the mom wants. I also have BCBS insurance and he is on it. His phone is ###-###-####.

You might check into Deaconess Hospital. My friend had her second and third children there both VBACS. The most recent was just a couple of years ago. I didn't realize the hospital had so much say thought it was more up to the doctor.

OU is the only place that does VBACS. The midwifes are wonderful. I had my last baby with them and the hospital truely believes that it is the mom who makes the decisions. Any of the midwives are good. I really like Ann Stewart.
