I have attended many births at Memorial North and I think that it is the best hospital option in town for birthing a baby. The nursing staff, as a whole, is friendly and respectful of parent's birth wishes. At times they are even empowering. The labor tubs are comforting but they are not in every room. They also have the best cafeteria food you will ever eat.

I delivered at Memorial North in August. I had an incredible midwife (that can shape thing)...Sharon Ruyat....
The delivery experience (though it was long and rough) was great. The staff was kind, supportive and wonderful with my attending family. The facility is amazing...almost too many things...tub, TV (bring movies there is a dvd player and rotten movie selection), immediate anesthesiologist....
BUT postpartum is ALL room in...they didn't even want to take my baby so that I could shower. The postpartum floor is on the next floor up from the LDR...not what the imply on tour...there are no snacks in postpartum unless you order them and the bathroom/shower situation is replicated from a RV.
I also delivered a Memorial Central a few years back...staff wasn't as nice in Delivery and facility isn't that great...
Good luck in your decision.

Considering that I live in Falcon, I know many people who have delivered in Mem. North. I have heard that it was really nice but that you could hear through the walls. I do have to say that recently, I had a hysterectomy and spent my time in the hospital in the Maternity ward in the new Penrose on Powers and Woodmen. I have to say that for all the times I have been in the hospital I have never been treated so well. It was absolutely the best experience ever. The nurses were attentive and kind and especially understanding. I never heard a noise from outside my own room. I highly recommend Penrose if you have a choice, but I have heard that Mem was very nice too!

I delivered a preemie there in Sept. and was not at all happy with my doctor or many of the nurses. I think much of the care I recieved was sub-par and compared to Sky Ridge in Denver it was much less comfortable. After talking to my peditrician he said that if my son ever needed any further care we should go to Penrose because they have all doctors there that are needed. Whe my son needed care at Mem. North the Dr. wouldn't come from Central to take care of him, he had a NP do it and she couldn't do the procedure. As a result he had to have many tests and procedures done twice. I do not recommend this hospital and will never go back there.
