It's pretty much a dying job anyway. There are now computers that will do the same thing for much cheaper than a living person.
Does she have any office experience at all that could take place of a transcriptionist? Some companies will take that into consideration.

Try mtjobs.com. There are some companies that you don't need 2 years for but you have to take tests. Medquist, Nuance and Inscribe are a few. I have never takent their tests but I just know they say you don't need experience.
Also, check out AHDI and become a member. They send out a great magazine and have alot of information on their site. You can go through them to get your RMT or CMT certification which will help you get more jobs as well.
I don't necessarily think it is a profression that will die soon, but you may want to educate yourself on voice recognition. There are alot of places trying to use that but they still need editors. Also, check out electronic medical records (EMR) systems. Alot of doctors are going to that, but again, they need people for that still as well.
I don't have much experience myself, but this is just a few things I have come across recently.

I think a lot of doctors are going to overseas companies for transcription, since it is a lot cheaper, but like someone else said, they still need proofed so you may need to get work with more than one office to keep you busy.
As for the suggestion for taking billing course instead, I would add that you will probably have to work in an office at least at first. Most places won't let you take private patient information home, at least until they know you can be trusted.

Go for medical transcriptionist and either billing or a nursing degree, then after two years or so you can move it to an at home job. I know with a nursing degree you will not be able to move to an at home job and not sure with billing either, but it should allow you more opportunities.
