Lunch Box Fun Stuff

cut sandwiches using fun cookie cutter shapes, stickers, use smaller foods to make a smiley face on his sandwich, cool/cute school supplies (pencil, eraser), short poem, draw simple pictures to convey a message (i.e. an eyeball for "I")

photos of the two of you or of a vacation you've taken or something.

I knew a mom who would write mad lib type fill in the blank notes for her son. He could read a little, or cross word puzzles with the names of your family members, or a word scramble, stuff like that.

I loved packing lunches because it felt like a way to connect with them while we were apart.

Candy and sweets are frowned on at my son's school, but here is an idea for once in awhile...give him mini marshmellow 'hugs', and chocolate chip 'kisses' for dessert. You can include a note with them, hugs and kisses from mom.

My son likes little stuff, I sort of make home made lunchables that hare a lot healthier than the one's you buy.

I want to say stickers, but that might cause issues...

Draw little pictures for kicks, like a dog face, or cow or something goofy and fun.

Mix it up...give it some variety...both the fun stuff and the food stuff :)

One thing to keep in mind, he may not have very long to eat. I know at my son's school, he only gets 15 minutes.

I send my son with mini pepperoni and cheese cubes in his lunch with fruit. It's something different . Or I send in hot lunches , chicken nuggets in one of those keep warm containers , corn dog nuggets.
I mix it up and rarely send in just a sandwich.

I remember when I was in 1st grade my mom once hid a small stuffed monkey in my lunchbox. I still have that monkey on my bookshelf. =)
