Looking for Child Day care on an occasional afternoon -short period. I would like a place that -well wipes a childs runny nose. Price is not my concern - it is care. My son is 17 months old. Speaking English & French.

What can I do next?

Hi C.,

I don't have any personal knowledge about daycares in the area as I just moved here (Ramona). I do know that one of my neighbors runs a daycare and another house down the street has signs up as well as a large home as one drives into town. I realize Ramona is probably out of the way for you.

Actually the reason I decided to respond to your post(I hope this doesn't sound too cooky.) is that I'm looking to make new friends. All my family and friends are in the LA area and further north. I was waiting until my almost 14 month-old baby girl was walking well before looking into playgroups. She's walking now though not well, so when I saw your post, I thought it would be a great way to introduce her to other children- starting with just one. If you'd like to meet sometime so you can get a feel for us and whether you're comfortable having us around your son, let me know. After that, if you ever need baby sitting I would be happy to keep him for you- even if you're not terribly interested in doing playdates, etc.

Whatever you decide, I wish you luck in finding the right place for your little one.

Sincerely,
I.

not sure if you in any moms group like sahm.meetup.com but many of them are stay at home and offer trades or short time care.. I live in oceanside and everything i know is over hear and way to far for you.. The only other thing is craigslist ofers nannys and sitters but i'd be sure to meet them and call references for sure before leaving my child.. Good luck on your search..

C.~ if you are only looking for occasional care a day care setting may not be the place for you. Most day cares want at least a twice a week committment. A great place to look for occasional care would be either Cal State San Marcos or Palomar. Palomar has a child development program and Cal State has a teaching cred. program. Go to those departments and post that you are looking for an occaional sitter. You will get someone interested in children that is more qualified than a high schooler. Hope that helps. Another idea is if you are in a playgroup swap afternoons with another mom. That way your son has a playmate for a couple hours and the other mom gets a break then switch!

Hi,

Because you are looking for occasional care with someone experienced, responsible, CPR trained, and interactive I would recommend www.munchkinminders.com Danielle is the owner and personally interviews, reference checks, and background checks all sitters.
