Looking for an OB/GYN in Nassau County (Long Island) That Is VBAC Friendly?

i had my last baby in NYC and the entire experience from prenatal care to unnecessary c section to post partum care was awful. i now live in westbury and am newly pregnant again : ) (my son is one). i am looking for a good ob/gyn practice that someone has had a good VBAC experience with, who would possibly also be affiliated with a mid wife, and who delivers at a good hospital.

i delivered at roosevelt in nyc, and it was so crowded, it was awful. i had to share a room bc they wanted to charge $700 a night for a private room. and my roommate was rude and loud and had constant visitors, and her baby kept me up all night. i ended up leaving the hospital 48 hours after i delivered even though i had a c section bc i needed to get the heck out of that place and get some peace and quiet. i also felt that my c section was unnecessary bc my ob/gyn left me for too long without checking on me. long story.

anyway, i am looking to make this next birth a more positive experience, with the help of good competent physicians that are willing to let me do a VBAC.

thanks in advance....

Not sure about the OB/GYN, but I got a private room at no additional charge at NY Hospital Queens in Flushing for both my kids, so I'm sure you can get that in Nassau.

Dr Diaz in Woodbury was wonderful and she delivers in Plainview which is a small nice hospital with private rooms. My entire experience was great and I am so happy she was my dr. Good luck!!

Hi,

I'm 39 weeks pregnant and plan to deliver at South Nassau Communities Hospital, it is a beautiful hospital. I'm sure they do VBAC, but its worth looking in to. The L&D unit is only 3 years old and completely up to date, with all of the latest and greatest. The nurses, Dr.s' and the staff are amazing!

I wish you the best of luck and hope this information helps!

I recommend Heather Appelbaum in Manhassat (1554 Northern Blvd.). She delivers at LIJ. I had a planned C-section with her (twins/complications), but afterward she said I could try a VBAC with my next pregnancy.

Good luck!

Dr. Terrani (Women's Health Center) in Westbury/Garden City - right by the Roosevelt Field Mall. They are a terrific OB/GYN practice and have a mid-wife on staff. Even the office managers are amazing - they can answer any question you have. I delivered at Plainville hospital and was so happy - it is a small hospital and I got a private room at no charge and amazing care. I live in Queens and was referred to them and even though it is a drive to get there, it is well worth it.
