Looking for a Slow Cooker

Can anyone recommend a good slow cooker with a timer? Price is really not an object, as long as it's under $200 or so. I would make good use of it, but it needs to be good quality.

What can I do next?

Something by Crock Pot. I have two, and they are great. You can get it from Target or Wal-mart, but I don't know the cost.

Hamilton beach with meat probe.. the best about $30.00 at Target. You insert a probe in the middle of the meat when it reached the correct temp the pot changes from cook to warm automatically. It is digital but has a manual program also. SO if you chicken is defrosted a little more it will not over cook.

I have a Crock-Pot Smart-Pot, it is fantastic. I got it as a Christmas gift about 2 years ago from my mom. I think it was around $45. It has a timer that you can set for any amount of time you wish and has low, high, and warm settings. If I am not mistaken when whatever you are cooking reaches prpoer temperature and remains there for 10 minutes it will automatically shift to warm, even if you set the timer for longer. I have enjoyed every meal that I have cooked in it. It has never over or under cooked. Happy shopping for your slow cooker!!

I agree, all crock pots are great. They have a digital one too that is more technologically advance. So many varieties to choose from with timers. Walmart, Sams, Home Depot, Lowes or some other major store all sell them just depends on what size or type you need.(Even try Kohls, JcPenney, Sears, etc-they usually have the best ones there)

I have a fantastic Rival that has two pots, one large open one and one that is divided into two sections to cook two different things. I love taking this to potluck dinners- so easy! It has 4 hour and 8 hour high heat settings and then the same for low heat settings, and when it's cooked as long as you set it for it goes to warm mode. Oh, and mine came with a carying case for my pot lucks too!

Hi K.,
Don't know if you're familiar with QVC shopping network or not but they've got some great cookers. In fact they had one as their special value of the day this week that was not only a slow cooker but could also brown, fry, deep fry do everything but wash the dishes. And it has a removable pot. The item number is K14170. If I didn't already have my QVC pressure cooker/slow cooker combination, I would have bought this one. I love my combination (#K5963) if you can use a pressure cooker. It's also from QVC. Their newest one has more bells and whistles and is bigger (#K14957) than mine but I'm extremely happy with mine. Just go to QVC.COM and do searches on "slow cooker" and you'll get a whole page of them. And their prices are better (even with shipping) that what you can get at Costco or Sam's (in most cases).

Hope this helps,
K. N.
