I know you may be grossed out but this works. Lather peanut butter (the creamy kind) or mayonnaise ALL OVER her hair and head - I mean everywhere and heavy, heavy, heavy. Then put her hair in a tight shower cap and she needs to sleep in it and be in it for a whole day without opening it AT ALL. They suffocate inside if you do it right and then you have to clean everything else - linens, dolls, etc. But also if you have carpeting - they infest in there. You need to have it professionally steam and shampoo cleaned to get them out and they need to do it sometimes a few times to get it all out. Good luck - I know its an absolute night mare - I went through it atleast 10 times as a child, no exageration. Oh, and DO NOT BE EMBARRASSED OVER HEAD LICE. People who make fun do not know what causes it. Clean hair attracts lice more than dirty hair and the texture of the hair is mostly what attracts it as well. That's why its always the same kids getting it over and over again. If they make fun, they can take a long walk off a short cliff. That's what I have to say to judgemental stupid individuals.

A.,
Don't be embarassed. This is common for school age children. I heard that many schools and pediatricians have special hot hair dryers for this sort of thing. You many want to check with them on that. Also to really get rid of them, you have to meticulously clean everything that she came in contact with. This could potentially be a huge job that includes cleaning all the bedding, vacuming mattress and carpets, and washing clothes, jackets, etc. Because you say you tried everything already, I am suspecting that she is getting reinfected with these critters somehow. Either from stuff that she has at home or from someone at school who hasn't ridded themselves of these things either. I sure sympathize with your situation. Hope something works soon.

Hi,
Have you made sure to wash combs, brushes, etc.? A friend of mine had three daughters with head lice at the same time. All I can remember is that she used the over-the-counter products with the combing being the most important. (this gets the eggs)She also washed all combs, brushes, pillow cases, and I remember she put sheets covering the places where her daughter would sit(couches etc.) Hope this helped, this is one you definitely have to work hard at.

Hi A.,

Try this, my mother did it to me and my two sisters’ and my brother when we were little. The girls had very long hair and my mother was not going to cut our hair. She also did everything she can and nothing work.

She put ALCOHOL the one you disinfect all over our hair and scalp. She just left it there for like 10 minutes or until it started to itch. Then she washed our hair and scrub it very good with shampoo. Then she put baby oil all over hair and comb it with that one comb that they sell in Walgreen’s for lice. She did the Alcohol one's a week and comb my hair every day. Keep in mind that the lice lay eggs and those eggs may die with the alcohol but they still stay there, when you comb the hair they should come off. If the school sees those eggs even if they are dead she still may consider her having lice.

Also they stay in the covers and clothes one's you are sure she does not have them in her hair. You need to wash all the towels, bed covers, stuff toys, clothes and put them in big black bags. Also any clothe furniture. My mom went crazy when she realized we had these animals in out long hair. Good luck and email me if you have any more questions thanks.

Did you go through every single strand of hair w/ that comb from the store. I remember when I was a little girl I got it 2 or 3 times I can't remember. After washing my hair we'd sit in a bright area, and my mom would go through every single strand of hair w/that comb. Our backs and necks would hurt so much but she was getting all the eggs and dead one's that didn't come out in the rinse. It worked. Sorry. Every girl goes through it.

My daughter got it when she was in the Philippines! So I know how frustrating it is. I think a doctor can precribe something for her. & you have to make sure you treat her bedding (including the bed), brushes, clothing, & toys, etc. for those pesky varmints. Have you tried vinegar? It's supposed to dissolve the glue like substance that make them stick. Good Luck!
