Looking for a Good Preschool

My son is 2 1/2 yrs old and we want to send him to preschool next fall for the 2009/2010 school year. I know we need to start the process sometime between January and March, but we're not sure where we want to send him. I know we would like to send him to a place that specializes in just preschool/kindergarten and not a place like a childcare center. We live in the Deerfield Twp./Mason area and would like to stay around there for preschool. I would really love some ideas as to where to enroll him, any suggestions/comments would be great!

What can I do next?

My daughter went to Lakeview Preschool for 2 years. It's in Landen on Columbia Rd. She really liked it and it wasn't very expensive ($110 for 2 half days).

Try Mason Christian Preschool at Christ's Church at Mason. They are located at the corner of Mason-Montgomery Rd and Western Row. They have an excellent preschool and pre-K program.

I have two suggestions for you, both I have already seen on here. My daughter attended Mason Christian Preschool at Christ's Church at Mason for the past 2 years. The program is wonderful, they learn a lot of great stuff, the staff is fantastic & the rates are very reasonable. The only reason my daughter is not going there this year is b/c she has an October birthday...she will be 4. She would have been in the 3 1/2 yr old class which is only one day a week for 4 hours or 2 days a week for 2 1/2 hours. My daughter is VERY social & I work from home, so I switched her to Kings Kids through the Kings school district. She will go to preschool 3 days a week. which would have been $65/wk if she wasn't going for the full day (which is the child care portion). For another $30/wk my daughter goes 3 full days. Yesterday was her first day & she LOVED it! It will also get your child ready for kindergarten in the Kings district b/c the teachers work with the kindergarten teachers to get the kids ready. I would recommend checking into both & seeing how you like them & fit into your schedule. Both programs fill up very fast! Oh & at MCP they only have 12 kids in a class with 1 teacher & 2 assistants!

I enrolled my 2 1/2 year old daughter in the "mommy's day out" program at Heritage Presbyterian Church on Mason-Montgomery Road. I had a friend who referred me there. They offer classes on M, W and F from 9:30-11:00. As of a few weeks ago they still had room in some of the classes. Good luck!

We send both our kids to Compass School and love it. It is also a day care, but they have half day programs, and 2-3 days/week programs too. It is a little pricey, but I feel like both of my kids are getting a great education. The staff is caring, and there are extra activities you can enroll your child in (Like dance or karate). They are also more into the kids exploring then expecting them to sit a nd listen, the kids are very involved in the activities from start to finish. Hope this helps..... S.

Hi L.,

I highly recommend The Children's House on Montomgery Rd and Cornell. They have an excellent pre-school and kindergarten program. In fact it is only a pre-school and kindergarten school. I sent my son there for both years (he's 9 now). Your child rotates rooms every 30 minutes. In addition to teaching your children the alphabet, they also go to music class, spanish and even computers. At the end of the school-year they even have a pre-school prom! So cute. We liked the pre-school so much we also sent him there for kindergarten.

I believe they have a website online and it's worth checking out in person also.

Good luck in your search,
Elizabeth

I am sending my son to the Countyside YMCA program in Lebanon and it is a good school. I sent in there when he was 3 and again this year. He would start on Tues/Thur classes and they have an AM and PM class. The contact person for the class would be Carrie Noel. Hope that helps.

Hi L.. We love Sycamore Presbyterian Preschool. It is located at the corner of Montgomery Rd. and Mason Rd. (the end of Mason-Montgomery). My daughter and several of my neighbors have been through their program and I have never heard any complaints. We had Mrs. Shaw in the Busy Bee room for 3 year olds, then Mrs. Gagliardi and Mrs. Caney in the Ladybug room for 4 year olds. Whenever we run into any of her teachers, Sarah has to run up and give them a hug.

I have also had a couple of our neighbors who recommended Lakeview Preschool in Landen. Good Luck!

Hi L.,
My name is J. and I live in the Maineville area. I am a stay at home mother of a 2 1/2 year old and am expecting in October as well. My son went to Creative Tots in Mason for summer camp this year. I know they have a great reputation for their preschool. He really enjoyed it and the environment was very nice. It is in Mason, off of Tylersville Rd. I currently have him enrolled in a Mom's Morning Out program at Hopewell Church in West Chester. He went 1 morning a week last year and now we are going to try 2 mornings. I have been very happy with it. I hope this helps. If you get any good feedback I would love to know. I am also going to be enrolling him somewhere else next year. I have a few friends who also highly recommend the preschool at Lakeview Church in Landen. My email is ____@____.com if you have any other questions or have any good suggestions for me as well. Good Luck!
J.

L. - My daughter just started the Kings Kids Preschool (they only advertise by word of mouth ... here's the website: http://www.kingslocal.k12.oh.us/departments/preschool/ind... ... select "Preschool & Preschool Childcare")it is located over by the old Kings Mansion on King Mills Road. It is preschool that also has child care before and after available. My daughter is in the am preschool three days a week + child care (our cost is $120/wk). They also offer a two-day program too. So far, I'm very impressed; but if you are interested; I'd definitely check it out!

Hi L.,

I send two of my children to Chai Tots in Mason. It is across the street from Cedar Village. They have both a daycare aspect, but also a separate Montessori Classroom as well for children 3yrs old up to 1st grade. I have a child in each area this year, and it's wonderful. (I live in Golf Manor/Amberly area and not the Mason area and we drive them up daily. In our opinion it's worth the drive.)

My son went to Loveland Christian Preschool and it was wonderful. It is actually in Symmes Township but Deerfield Township (where I live) is only a few hundred feet away. It is located on Columbia/Lebanon Road just past Fields Ertle. It has a wonderful caring staff and may have an opening or two. I know that they are listed in the book but the church office's number is ###-###-####. Hope that helps. :)

My son goes to Heritage Presbyterian preschool - they have a two year preschool and then a pre-k program for kids old enough to go to kindergarten but aren't ready. My son loved it last year and will be attending again this year. They regiester in January and February, I believe. I have also heard good things about the preschools at Hope Church and Christ's Church of Mason.

There's also a great mom's group in the area: Mothers & More http://www.geocities.com/mothersandmorecinti/ or e-mail to ____@____.com's a great organization for moms and families and to get great advice on topics like this one!
