Ok, since others are also asking questions about grooming today...
I'd like to get some laser hair removal. The prices vary so much! I don't want to overpay (who wants to do that). But I also want the procedure to work well, etc.

Are there questions I can ask to differentiate among places?
From some online research, I get the feeling that there are different kinds of lasers, but I don't know what specific answers to look for if I ask what kind of laser they have.

Or, if you are from Pitttsburgh, do you have any specific recommendations?

I used the at home laser treatment available at BB&B, Silkn Flash & Go successfully. The unit cost about $150. Cheaper than most laser bundles. I used it for my lip & chin to my satisfaction. I went from having dense coarse hair that I would tweeze 2-3 times a week, to having a few fine strays which might catch my eye every month or so. If the hair took a foothold again (which it might), I could always zap some more.

If you are planning on lazering a small area, you might try the at home thing too.

Best,

I had laser hair removal on my arms about 10 years ago. My arm hair was black and thin. From what I understand blonde hair does not do well with removal, nor does thick hair.

Ten years later and I have very short hair growing back on my arms. When I feel like it, I shave them off, but it is such a little amount that I don't care if it is there or not.

Just a note, you can get burned by the laser if they tech turns it up too high or leaves it on too long.

Different places use different lasers. There's not too much difference between in effectiveness in the lasers. I hear there is a difference in the pain. IPL lasers are stated to be more painful than diode lasers. The super high prices with some places are due to them having an RN performing the treatment and a ton of money tends to go towards advertising. Do you have friends that you can get recommendations from? The main danger would be having an inexperienced tech who could burn you.

I go to a place where I get unlimited laser for $99/month with a six month treatment estimate. For that I get upper lip, underarms, brazillian, full legs, and foot/toe. I've had two treatments and am very happy thus far.

I did a Groupon for mine, as did just about everyone else that I know. Straight salon pricing is ridiculously overpriced. Think $1500 vs. $200 for Groupon.

I had my whole "nether region" done. 6 sessions, and it's completely gone. I knick it with a razor occasionally to pick up a stray hair or two that escaped, but I honestly don't need to.
It hurt like crazy, but it was well worth it to avoid future shaving and waxing!

I wonder if anyone has used the "everywhere advertised" No-No and if it works.
