Morning Ladies,
First off let me say thank you to all of you, you all are my lifesavers!!!!!! My new question is...last week when I went for my 36 week check-up my Doctor said I was 2cm dilated and that I was way ahead of schedule. Does this mean the baby is coming soon??? I hope so!!

What can I do next?

I had a doc appt the morning i went into labor, i started to have contactions, i didn*t think they were though. When i went in he told me i was 3cm & that i should go home and pack & head up to the hospital.. that was about 11am, I had my baby girl at 4:12pm. w/o being induced. So anything is possable. Good luck!

Congrats on the new baby (soon to be here).. Even if you are dilated 2cm, it doesn't mean baby is coming anytime soon.. I was 3cm dilated for 3 wks. And even after that I had to have a c-section. I wish you the best of luck, and don't rush it, baby will be here sooner than you think, and then your hole life is going to change.. Good luck..

My mom was 3 centimeters dilated with me over a month before she had me. I never dilated ... had an appointment a week before my due date was told I would be late and guess what my water broke the day before my due date. Went to the hospital and still hadn't dilated. Everyone is different (and every labor is also different) and your baby will come when ready. Good luck.

Congratulations!
It's true that you can be 2-3 cm dilated for quite a while, but the good thing is that your body is really getting ready. Did your doc tell you how effaced you are? The combo of effacement and dilation is more informative than just dilation.
Also, at 36 weeks, baby isn't considered early so he/she is cooked and ready to rumba.
I am so happy for you!

When I was pregnant I was about a 1cm dilated for weeks. My due date was Feb.4 and I gave birth to my baby on Feb.15. Everyone is different though. A lot of the people I talked to said the first one is always late. But who knows, maybe you will be holding your baby very soon. Congrats! It's an amazing experience. I wish you all the best.

Trying to remember that far back... I recall being 2 centimeters dilated, the doctor doing an internal exam, then going home and feeling sort of gassy that evening. Guess what I had the next morning?! 6lb. 7oz. boy!
