Hi everyone. I have a "technical" question and I cannot find where in Netscape (my email is with them) I would be able to do this. My email storage is getting very full and I already have extra storage, and I only get that option once so I cannot add to my storage. I would like to save folders full of emails from friends and family members to CDs that I can read on my computer later. Is it possible to do this? Some of the emails have pictures (jpegs) and I want to be able to save the pics so I can see them later (I've heard that sometimes pics save not as images but as blocks of nonsense text, so the image is lost forever)... I'm hoping there's a techie mama who can help me with this or can steer me to a tutorial for this sort of thing. Many thanks for any advice you can provide. *Peace*!

What can I do next?

I would download all the pictures to your computer or a CD and then delete the attachment. The attachments take up a lot of room. Clean out your sent emails folder regularly. Is there an archive feature on Netscape that will allow you to download some folders to your computer? You could also start a gmail or yahoo email account and forward those you want to keep.

I don't know how you would do that! But one thing you can do that is very easy is to create another free email account, and then forward the emails to that account for storage [or multiple accounts, if one is not enough]. The only issue with that is you have to remember to log-in every so often so that the account does not close. Good luck!

Not familiar with netscape, but this is how I save pictures from emails to my computer. while looking at picture, place cursor over picture & right click. A menu comes up, select "save pictue as" then you can pick the place on the computer for the image to be saved. Now, the emails, find out if netscape works with Microsoft's outlook. then yu can have a copy of each email downloaded to your computer where it can be looked at, & you can save the outlook data file to a cd for archival purposes. I have emails from 2000 involving business purchases etc... Hope this helps you.

Take a look at picasa, and see if it would be good for you. This is how I store ALL of my pictures, and I love it. (www.picasa.google.com) It's a free tool that is super easy to learn. I download any attachments I want to keep into this program.

For the other e-mails, I agree with the others...put them into Word and read 'em later. :-)

Hope it helps!

I would save the pictures to your computer as suggested. put them in a photo file. as for the emails, if you have microsoft word i would create a word document and then copy and paste the body of the email into the word document. You could manually type in the date it was sent and who it was from. you could even create a seperate word document for each person or group of people so that you could more easily find the emails you are looking for like "emails from Mom 2010" Or "Family emails 2010" etc. Hope this helps.
