Hi Moms,

I am looking on craigslist to buy a 4th generation 32gb Ipod Touch for my son. One seller described his ipod touch as "jailbroken." I apologize for my stupidity, but I have no idea what jailbroken means. Can anyone please clue me in? Thanks!

What can I do next?

Not sure why you'd even need to jailbreak an iPod - it's so you can put 3rd party apps on your iPod, but you can do that anyway without jailbreaking it. It voids the warranty, so I'd steer clear of that one for sure.

I am not 100% certain on this, but I think it means it's hacked. Which means that he put other programs and applications on it. Not necessarily always a bad thing, but you may want to steer clear of that one.

Im an 11year old boy and my mom told me to awnser this question cause i experienced my ipod being JAILBROKEN."Jailbroken" means its hacked and it allows you to be able to get apps songs and accesories that APPLE never realesed or allowed for purchase, you can costimize your ipod the way you want it,but the customization tool doest allways work so not everything will happen that you want to happen. jailbreaking VOIDS the warranty so you cant replace it if broken or the jailbreak messed up the ipod. Hope this helped!!! btw heres a little more info

That means that he can get all kinds of apps and games. It's not a bad thing, I'm trying to get mine jailbroke right now. You can always do a system update or take the iPod to an apple store and they will restore to factory if you don't like it
