Input on MMR Shot

Does anyone have any input on the MMR. My son is 19mos old and is due for mmr. I convinced my Dr. to get the shot done individually. I was told it is still best to wait until they are 3yrs (not sure why). My Dr. does not want to wait till he is 3. I have such a fear of autism. Infact they say it is the measles shot you have to worry about and that is the first one he wants to give my son. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

What can I do next?

There is an AWESOME article on what predisposes and leads to autism in the Winter 2007 Wise Traditions quarterly publication of the Weston A Price foundation. It also offers a protocol to help turn around the condition (the author's child was diagnosed around age 3 and is now a completely normal teenager... early treatment has positive results for 60-70% of those who tried it, she says).

Pretty much, the vaccines do not CAUSE autism... it is more that it may be the straw that breaks the camel's back. So it's a great read to understand how to counterract the problems that would predispose a child to autism and the immune response to a vaccine.

follow your instinct, not your doctor's advice. i've given my daughter very few vaccinations and feel great about that decision.

My son is not getting it done till he is 4 and going into school, and even then I am going to give him each vaccine separately.
Today there are just way too many reactions and negative things that have been coming out of vaccines.
MMR is the ONLY vaccine my son will be getting.

As for certain posters saying that people who do not vaccinate their children are putting their children at risk.
If your child is vaccinated, obviously they are not going to get these diseases if an outbreak was to occur.
We do not tell you how to parent your child, so we will parent our children as we please.

If more parents became more informed about what issues these vaccines DID cause, I am sure they would think twice about giving their babies and children these mass amounts of shots.

The more time goes on, the more problems they find with vaccines and routine things during birth and early child hood that cause problems later on in life.
It is all trial and error, and some parents do not wish to have their children be guinea pigs for experiments of these big bucks drug companies.

Hi, Jen W gave you a huge amount of good information, I just want to build on what she said by pointing out a particular article that might answer most of your basic questions. At www.mercola.com, search for an article called "Dispelling Vaccination Myths". It has three "pages", which are actually three sections of the article. It is a good overview of the vaccination debate, written by a doctor who had questions when it came time to vaccinate his son. It will also point you to more resources to answer your specific MMR questions. Good luck with your decision...if you have any more questions, feel free to send me a message.

So many theories of this shot and autism. No one really knows. Pediatricians won't back this up as it is not proven according to them yet so many mothers say that many cases have developed after the shot. Moms recall seeing differences in their children there after. Read Jenny McCarthy's book, Louder Than Words. She believes children who do develop autism tend to have a weak immune system and the shot is the straw that breaks the camels back so to speak. She believes the childs immune system should be tested first to ensure the child can handle the vaccine. Google any information you can before you decide. Look up Dr. Stanly Greenspan and see what information that can offer you. Look up DAN doctors and see papers that have been written on the subject of mercury in vaccinations, etc...Also, try contacting a DAN doctor (Defeat Autism Now) to get your facts before you make a decision if you are that concerned. And well you should be, nowadays with so many cases of autism. in 1989 1 in 10,000 children was diagnosed, presently it is 1 in 150 children. Don't let any negative or judgemental responses sway you, always go with your mommy gut feeling. What did you do with your first 3 children? Good Luck
