Infant's Daily Schedule

I have a 2.5 month old baby and I'm trying to get him on a daily routine/schedule. Do any moms have any advice on schedules that proved to be successful for them? I've been trying to follow the Baby Whisperers E.A.S.Y approach. It seems to work pretty well however the inconsistency of when he wakes in the AM and when he wants to feed throws off the timing of it all. I am able to stick to the steps but it's hard to plan anything not knowing what time he's going to wake or fall back asleep. Any input on times I should shoot for throughout the day and how long I should allow his activities to be? Any input is appreciated. Thanks!

What can I do next?

I followed the EASY plan and it should work because it doesn't need to follow a time, per say, just an order. I think the idea is Eating, activity, sleep and as they get older the time between each will increase. For instance when they're that little the activity may be as short as changing their diaper or just a 20-30 minute interaction before they're ready to sleep again. Then a general rule for about 5-10 mts old for our son was he is awake for about 2 hours after eating and ready to nap. Now at one years old he's down to 2 naps a day. Hope thats helpful! I found E.A.S.Y to be the best plan out there and totally got us on track. Good luck!

both my children only started a schedule at 4 months old - my advise would be not to push him too hard, he will find his groove.

I have a 9 month old and what I did was chart his patterns for 2 weeks. And I notice he was feeding every 3 to 4 hours and taking 3-4 naps each day around the same time. So I was able to work with his pattern. I hope that helps

H.,

I got my baby on a schedule by making him do things. I started by stretching his feedings out at night time. That in turn made him sleep through the night a little better. When he started sleeping through the night I would feed him when he would wake up and then about two hours after he wakes up I put him down for a nap. He usually sleeps for about 2 hours. Then I let him play for awhile and by that time it is Noon and it is time for lunch. He eats and then I would put him down for anther nap nap about 1 hour after he eats. After he wakes up then he has a bottle about 4 and then is good until dinner time about 6:30 and ten he goes to bed about 8.
My little guy will cry sometimes when I put him down but it stops real quick. My little guy is now 9 months old and and he is able to sometimes forgo his afternoon nap and he is just fine. I took me about a total of 3 weeks to get him used to the schedule. The best thing about the schedule is that I am able to get things done. Also at this point I can deviate from the schedule a little and he is not affected to much.
I hope this info helps. Good Luck!!
