In Need of Some Easy to Prepare Recipes

I need some quick healthy meal ideas that children will love. With a 25 mth old and 6 mth old around it is impossible for me to spend a lot of time preparing meals before one is causing trouble and the other is crying. I use buy some quick meals that you just add meat to but I noticed how much salt they had so I wanted to start making my own meals like I did before I had kids but without all of the prep time. I do use a crock pot. Please don't give any suggestions for meals that contain fish because neither my husband nor I like fish. We do get our daughter to try fish at restaurants but I don't prepare it at home because the smell makes me sick. If you know of a good website that has recipes with customer ratings that would be great also. I use to have one years ago. Thanks

What can I do next?

Try www.allrecipes.com It has ratings and reviews by customers. It also has categories like healthy foods, kid foods, entrees, easy to prepare, etc. I love it.

You can try allrecipes.com or bettycrocker.com. Other than that I have no suggestions, I'm not much of a cook and buy a lot of the ready made stuff.

Hi B.,

Have you tried any of the places where you prepare meals to take home to your freezer? Not sure if you live in St. Pete or Tampa, but the ones I've used are Dinner Done in Tampa, Foodies in St. Pete and Thyme for Dinner in Bradenton. It usually takes about 1 1/2 hours to prepare 8 dinners. When I"ve done it I split the 4-serving size into 2 and end up taking home 16 meals that serve 2. We lived on those meals when we were both working. They are quick and convenient like the frozen meals from the food store, but made fresh with whole ingredients and no preservatives. All of the different locations have an online ordering process for reserving your date and your meals, so you can check out the month's menu and see if it's meals your family would like. Foodies in St. Pete always has meals that geared toward the kids. If you don't live in St. Pete or Tamps , just google "Dinner Assembly" + your town and you're sure to find something.

I recommend kraftfoods.com too. I get their free magazine in each month and it's great.

I just recently found recipezaar.com . I really like it. There's customer ratings. You also open an account and can save the ones you like to your account. The account is free.

Here's a site with some "tried & true" crockpot recipes:

http://malincholia.com/slowcookerwinners.htm

Some of them are VERY easy. Here's one - when I made it, my husband raved and raved over it:

To Die For Roast
Ingredients
1 roast that will fit into your crockpot
1 packet Ranch Dressing Mix
1 packet Italian Dressing Mix
1 packet Brown Gravy Mix
1/2 cup water.

Instructions
Place the roast in your crock pot. Mix all other ingredients together and pour over roast.
Cook on low 8 to 10 hours.
