This is the deal, I've been put in charge of planning a going away party for our boss who is leaving in June. She has been here for about 6-8 years as our director. Well aside from planning the party I also need to get a going away gift (on behalf of staff) and I have no idea yet what would be a great gift. She'll be moving out of the state and become a SAHM. I've been looking around the internet and I have yet to get any ideas from staff......so I though all you great Moms could be of great help!! Thank you and any ideas are very much appreciated!! =)

What can I do next?

I'm not sure how old her children are, but a gift certificate to spa for a massage, manicure or pedicure could be nice. Also, I like the idea for a gift certificate to a make and take meal place. If she is moving out of state, she may not want anything else to pack and take with her.

she is going to be tired and wore out from moving so maybe a spa oriented gift basket maybe a gift certificate for a massage, pedicure manicure in her new town. or she is going to be decorating hernew home so maybe a gift certificate for bed bath and beyon or target etc. and maybe you and your coworkers can make her a scrapbook of youselves and such for her to take with.

Put your funds together... then after you know how much you want to spend.... go to http://kvonahnen.ordermygift.com and select the gift catalog that suits her best. The trick to this type of giving is that you give the recipient a choice of product that includes shipping to their destination of choice. They can order the product mail, phone or online.... and the kicker is that there is no price stamped on it and its a bunch more personal than a plain gift card.

I use this system with Realtors and Mortgage folks all the time... they are really well received.

Hope that helps.

Kurt

I love the meals idea and maybe an engraved picture frame and include a photo in it or have one taken at her party so she can remember everyone.

Hi E.,

I know when I left my office to become a SAHM, I needed a massage and some meals :-). It's tough leaving the corporate world to spend your days with little ones. Anything to make her job at home easier is always a good idea! Gift certificates to well-known yummy restaurants are great and make life so much easier when you are transitioning from a move. Hope that helps.

Good luck!

My husband was in charge of getting a gift for his boss who was leaving recently. After looking at several different things, we came across the photo frames. We thought that was both a personal and practical gift and ended up buying the photo frame. My husband took pictures of the staff and put it on a digital card. So she had something not only could she put on her new desk but could look at it anytime she started to miss her old staff.
