I Need Clothes That Stand up to Life as a Mom... Any Suggestions?

I am so tired of buying new clothes only to have them last a few washes. I am h*** o* my clothes, have kids who pull and climb on me all day :-), and have a man who doesn't know the proper way to wash woman's clothes. Does anyone have any suggestions where to buy good quality clothes? I don't mind spending a little extra, but I don't want them to fall apart.

What can I do next?

I shop at the "cheap" places too, Walmart, Sears, etc. Something to help the clothes not wear out, is to wash them all in cold. Doesn't matter what. We had some cold water wash stuff before, but now it is all cold, except my underwear (that is hot). We have had stuff last a long time washing it that way. They you don't have to worry about the way your man washes, it is all cold.

Old Navy's jeans are great. I like the Sweetheart style because you can bend over without showing your "crack"! I get T-Shirts there too but prefer the "Favorite Tee" from the Gap/Gap Outlet. I hang dry all of my t-shirts, I just don't think they are dryer friendly. Old Navy is having a denim sale this Saturday when all Denim is $12.00. I'm just a jeans and T-shirt mom and in this weather give me a hooded sweatshirt and I am happy!

you mean the same wardrobe you get with your paper towels and cleaning supplies do not stand the test of time :) how I know this....For daily (inlcludes cleaning and life with kids, I just buy Target clothes and know they last as long as their marketing trends..) Macy's always has sales and they have some lines that stand up..Velvet(cute trendy quality cotton) Nine West..INC...Same with Some of the Nordy brands when on sale.

Let us know what you find!

I love The Gap! I bought a pair of jeans there six years ago, and when I got them I was fresh out of college with little money in my pocket, but I splurged and it was the best investment I have ever made on clothes. They just wore out this year, and I have worn them at least once a week ever since I got them, and I am an artist so I was really h*** o* those jeans. It seems all of their clothes last a long time though. I think the quality is a bit better than Old Navy, but you pay a bit more, but it's worth it.

I suppose this depends a lot on what style clothing you prefer.
I have found over the years that the best thing for me is to buy something sturdy, but inexpensive. I shop a lot at places like Walmart, and am also a thrift shop "junkie". Sometimes by shopping in a thrift store, you can find some of the 'better' brands slightly used at a price that is less than the cheap clothing in the stores. At home I mostly wear sturdy pants and a T-shirt. I got Hanes T-shirts at Walmart at a reduced price of $4 or $5 a year ago and they are holding up well. My favorite pants, though getting some wear and stains from the children, are some cargo pants with lots of pockets that I got at Sam's Club about five years ago. I don't worry about a few stains and tears while I'm at home, and save a few outfits of 'nicer' clothing for when I'm goint out somewhere.
