I live in the Springs, all my family lives in AZ. I want to divorce my husband but am not 100% sure that I will be allowed to move my children and I back to AZ. I am currently in school and am broke so living here with out support will make it difficult for me and the kids. Plus I am miserable and need the emotional support. Any suggestions would be a lot of help.

What can I do next?

You need to consult a lawyer. I believe that if you can show a support system and a way to support yourself, and that you can not do that in CS then you should have a good case. I have been divorced 6 years with 2 kids living with no support system like a family in the state. However, I now have more than doubled my income- to 6 figures, and we live a nice happy life without him, he was very domineering and even mean at times.

I too at one time wanted a divorce from my husband, so I know how you feel. I am not sure what is going on in your life right now but legaly you can get advice for free from a lawyer. I can only tell you that when I was going through this hard time in my own marriage it hurt and I felt crazy. I had to stop and really see what it was that I no one else wanted and it was not a divorce I just wanted to be happy. Over time my husband started acting differantly twards me a direct result of me giving up the battle, and some how we became friends again. I look back now and am very thankful I did not go through with it. So like I said I do not know what is going on oin your life right now but by reading your letter you sound a lot like me you just want to be happy and have peace Good luck to you and things will get better over time.

Find a good...no great attorney. They will consult for the first visit for free...and First PResbyterian (I am not a member...just heard about this from friends) have all sorts of groups, support and information on divorce. Seriously, I know it sounds odd but my dear friends used them to death during her RECENT divorce.

Colorado custody law prohibits parents from moving out of state, you would have to move before any custody filing.
