I Need a Pediatrician - Fort Worth,TX

I am about a week and a half away from delivering my baby and I am looking for a pediatrician. I just moved to Fort Worth from Virginia and I am looking for a doctor who would be open to not immunizing according to his or her own schedule. I would like to delay some immunizations that are required and I know some doctors are opposed to that. If anyone has a suggestion, please let me know ;)

Hi T.!

Congrats on the little one. I've used the same pediatrician since my oldest (he's 12) was born. Since he was born, I've grown up considerably, and my views on health have changed a lot. (I have two girls as well) Our pediatrician has been very understanding, and cooperative. She is a proponent of new vaccines, etc, but is not upset or pushy when you say 'no thanks'. I've told her I like to avoid anti-biotics and most medicines in general, unless absolutely necessary, and she is very willing to work with me on that. Because I keep my children's diet natural, and don't put a lot of things in them that affect their immune systems, we thankfully haven't had too many health issues. When we have, our pediatrician has never given us a wrong diagnosis.

Her name is Dr. Carol Brennan. She is located in the Cook Children's Cityview office right next to Harris Methodist Southwest near Hulen/Bryant Irvin.

Good luck with your search and motherhood!

L.

Although I cannot recommend a pediatrician for you, I will tell you who NOT to use. I too believe in a natural approach to child rearing. I have twins who I breastfed until 18 months. They are 6 now, and I now find myself arguing with their teacher about what foods they eat.

It can be very difficult for people who are supposed to care for our children to allow us to have some say so at times. I also wanted to delay some of the vaccinations, but my pedi would not allow me to delay for more than a month. I also had another isuue with him where he actually called me to say that he was sorry, and that he "really dropped the ball on following up on that." Needless to say, we never stepped foot in that office again. My attorney told me that I could have sued him for Malpractice, but I was more concerned with taking care of my little baby girl.

So, the doctor NOT to use- Raymond Poquiz. He is part of "Tots & Tykes"

Welcome to Texas. More doctors around here are more open to delaying vaccines rather than not doing them at all. Either of which is up to you. While I have not personally taken my children to him, a friend of mine used to work for Dr. RObert Mann in Mansfield. It is a Cook's clinic. She says that Dr. Mann leaves the decision to the parents (after verifying it is an informed decision)and that his partner is okay with delaying them.Hope that helps!

Hi there. Welcome to TX and I hope you are enjoying the heat (haha). We go to Dr. M. Carol Brennan part of the Cook's Children Network and she is fine with us delaying our daughter's shots. Our daughter is only getting 2 shots a time and will evetually have all of the immunizations (Dr. Sears method). Her office is next to Harris Southwest Hospital off Bryant Irvin. Good luck on finding a doctor we are pleased with ours.
