How to "House-proof the Baby"

If anything... try going to Craig's List in your area... and see if you can find something second hand for cheap, to store your tv.
Craig's List has some real good bargains, and is a very popular way to shop nowadays.

recently in my city, there was a boy who actually died, because he was playing next to a tv, and it fell on him. Although the tv was not on a stable stand...it was just propped up on an ice-cooler. Very sad.

Babies r us sells tv guards for button pushing. Maybe just sit the TV on the floor until you can get a better entertainment center. You might be able to find a cheap, suitable one at a garage sale or thrift shop for the time being.

You can put an extension gate around the t.v. but that may get costly. There are also t.v. guards that you can place over the part of your t.v. with the buttons so your child cannot turn the t.v. on and off. If he is not able to do that, then he may lose interest in it and redirect his attention to a toy that lights up when he pushes the buttons.

A gate around the TV is a great thing! I am sure if you look you can even find one at a thrift store or garage sale! I used one of those clear plastic 8x10 picture frames for the TV button pushing stage =} You know that ones that are ALL plastic, they have a slant "L" shape to them ~ you placed the long part (where the picture would go) under the TV and the smaller part goes in front of the buttons. This way your child can not push the buttons yet your remote will still work =} Good luck to you and yours! A toddler is full of adventure and a parents imagination really gets put the test at this stage.

We put a "snap together fence" around our bedroom TV because it sits on a glass stand ~ made for TV's, but not for children. It does not lock into the wall or anything, it just sits there around the outside of the TV, but she never goes in to investigate.

She does however get into everything else! She is 3YO and is blocked from many things, but she can pretty much get into what ever she wants because she is tall. I woke up and she was wearing dark lipstick all over the side of her lips (she missed). BLAAAAAH!!! What a site.
