Also, some great suggestions on how to minimize chemo effects and such in the book, "Breast Cancer? Breast Health!" by Susun Weed. I have had many folks use this book, regardless of the type of cancer, for her outstanding recommendations. She is one of the country's foremost herbalogists, you can really trust her advice, and she covers the integration of both medical treatment and other natural supports.

First, I am very sorry that you have to go through this. I admire your bravery!

When my mom lost her hair to chemo, che got a great hairpiece/wig fromthe American Cancer Society. THey had an order booklet that I believe she got from the doctor and their prices were realy reasonable. If I remember correctly, they also sold scarves (some I think were sewn to look like they had been tied) and I think there were instructions for tying them as well.

My mom is hospitalized right now, so I am unable to ask her, but I am sure if you go to the webstie they should ahve some info for you.

Sorry to hear about your temporary challenge. You are in my prayers. Stay strong!
I don't know of any books or websites that could help you. Try searching YouTube for head ties, head wraps, gele's and turbans.
In West Africa women wear head ties that are called Gele's. In North Africa men wear head ties that are called Turbans.

I am going to try talking you through how to beautifully wrap your head.

For head tie you will need 36"- 45" width fabric 1 1/2 - 2yds. long. Hem fabric.

One way to tie head wrap:

Fold fabric in half length wise.
Place fabric on your head with the two ends hanging down your back.
Pull the fabric by your left ear over to the right ear.
Pull the fabric by your right ear over to the left ear and bring both ends up to the top of your head. Tie either on the right or left side of your head. Fan the fabric out. If fabric hangs too long cut to desired length.

Another way:

Follow the above steps, however instead of tying the fabric on the right or left side of your head tie it in the center of your head. Continue wrapping fabric until it is all around your head. Tuck fabric in and you are finished.

Experiment. Each time you wrap your head you get a different look.
