Hello,
I know there has been a lot of car talk lately and most of you seem to Love your CRV. Anyone out the have a review on a Saturn VUE? What I'm mainly looking for is, safety(side air bags possibly?) good gas mileage, room for 2 kids(currently, toddler and infant arriving in Jaunary....someday maybe 3 kids?) those are the main points! any advice is appreciated!!

What can I do next?

Hi!
I don't know much about the Saturn VUE, but I have a CRV and love, love, love it! I have to agree with the previous M. about all of the safety features . ..it does have side air bags as well. There is so much cargo space and roominess! Its is built on a car frame, so that improves its safety features.

We can definitely fir our 2 car seats, a 3rd seat wouldn't fit, but we did make a trip to Kentucky last year and my 17 year old step daughter sat between the car seats and she was comfortable (it was tight back there, but they all fit!).

We may be planning for a 3rd and will definitely get a Pilot when that time comes. This is my 2nd Honda and I am very satisfied!

I know that's not exactly what you asked, but I hope it helps!!

Mona,

We have the Honda CRV and LOVE it. I have owned 3 Saturn sedans in the past and wanted to save some money so we looked into the Saturn VUE. When we started our search, I was sure I wanted the Saturn VUE. They even let us test drive it for an entire weekend. And thank goodness they did! After driving it for a weekend, I was convinced to get the CRV.

While the new VUE body was very appealing, there is some cheesy plastic going on in the interior that I hated. There are less features that come standard with the VUE and the VUE is very clunky and heavier than the CRV. The CRV drives like a car and has more storage too.

As far as safety, the VUE has a low safety rating for rollovers. The CRV has one of the best safety ratings in its class. Overall, my research found that the CRV was a much safer car and since we bought it because we were expecting our first child, safety was a huge factor for us.

We bought the CRV in October and never looked back. It was a few thousand dollars more but worth every penny. It's also more reliable than any of the Saturns I've owned. I believe the CRV and VUE get about the same gas mileage (22 miles per gallon).

My sons carseat fits comfortably in the CRV and I think it would still be fine with 2 carseats. For 3 kids it might be a stretch. If you need a car for 3 kids and are looking for something with a third seat, I have heard VERY good things about the Honda Pilot.

Happy Car Hunting! If you have any other questions, feel free to send me a personal message.

I own the 2008 saturn vue and LOVE it. I have 2 car seats in it a forward facing and a rear facing, my 11 yr old niece can squeeze in between then when she is over, dont think I could use 3 car seats in it. I have ZERO complaints about my Saturn. I have the XR V6 model and I am not sure what the other poster was talking about with plastic in the inside, my interior is beautiful. I like the fact that it is higher and I love the sporty new look. I downsized from a ford expedition to the vue. It is up to personal preference, go and test drive and play with both cars on the same days and make your choice.
P.S. A totally un-necessary but great feature on my vue is automatic windshild wipers....its the coolest thing and I love the on-star and automatic start.

I wanted to throw out the Subaru Forrester as well...It ranked very well in safety and is very reliable as well as great gas mileage. The 2008 verison is a bit bigger so you have more room. I have had two subaru's and love them.

We were down to those two choices last year ourselves and went with the Vue. I believe it ranked the highest in highway safety. We have the 2007 and got zero percent financing for 5 years, but would have loved to have bought the 2008, it was a tad bit bigger in the back. It does get great gas mileage and we are pleased with that. There were some inside features that we thought were better in the CRV, but when it came down to it, Saturn had the better deal with financing and its highway safety ranking closed the deal for us. We love our car and and feel we made a great purchase and there will be plenty of room for two and will sit three, but I think it would be tight with the 2007. You can also go to www.healthycar.org I think either way, it is going to come down to the better deal, safety and gas mileage.
