Just hoping to get some verbal support on having so many children. Also seeking info on homeschooling and activities for homeschooled children.

So What Happened?

Thank you Ladies for he information and support. I'm a little nervous about the fourth child. I'm sure everything will be fine. I'm happy about the addition, just a little stressed also. I am currently homeschooling my oldest two. This will be our second year in the program. The charter program that we're in is completely home based so I was hoping to get some info on outside activities to one, give me a little break, and two, allow them to have a little more outside interaction. There is some sort of a vendor list the program uses which, I've known about it's just when I've looked at the list in the past the format was sort of uninviting. Maybe its just me, I'm going to check it out again. I was just trying to get a few extra ideas thrown my way. Thanks Again!

You could look at the Learn at Home series of workbooks/curriculum for homeschooling. I found them at amazon.com.
I have a friend who has six children, and she home-schools them all. As they have gotten older, she has gotten the oldest ones going to private school part-time, or else they would miss out on opportunities like orchestra and football. I don't know how she does it with all the kids home every day, but it works for them. It is possible. And four kids doesn't seem like that big of a family to me--I am the oldest of six, and my husband is one of eight!

Hi S.,

I just wanted to say I have six children. There is nothing wrong with a big family, as long as you have the time patience and love to go around. Home schooling is a big commitment, I have done it when I felt it was necessary. Socialization is important but some of the socialization they get in public school, I think is bad. I have used an online home school that I like, here is their website.

Good luck and God bless

Hi S.,
Congratulations on you upcoming little one. I have been blessed with 2 children and I homeschool them both.(ages 8 & 11) There are many resources out there for support. Some are CHEA, HSLDA, Scope and many others that you can link up to on the internet. I chose to use an umbrella organization which provides sports programs, field trips and other activities. The one I am with is American Christian Academy but there are many others out there. Being in the homeschool community, I have met families with 6-7 children that homeschool seamlessly. So, it can be done and done well! Just find the system that works for you and your family. Maybe attend a convention...there is one this weekend in Modesto by Valley Home Educators that is excellent.
Blessings,
M.

iF YOU CAN SUPPORT THEM, LOVE AND NUTURE THEM, THEN THERE IS NO PROBLEM HAVING AS YOU SAY "SO MANY CHILDREN"!!! My aunt had four girls and home schooled all of them. Now I belive 2 no 3 are in college, one graduated highschool pretty early and the last is a remarkable (as are her sisters) musician and scholar. I myself do not have the patience for more than the 2 children I have and I like them going to school for the educaion (I have them in catholic school)they get and the socialization, but that is me and you are you!!!!! I can ask my aunt to contact you regarding homeschooling and the activities, I know the girls werw involved in lots of activities I think alot were throgh their church!!! GOOD LUCK and I am sure they will all turn out just fine!!! Congrats on your 4th!
