Help! I have a rash on my back and chest that came about after the birth of my daughter two weeks ago. I have no idea what caused it or how to get rid of it. Has anyone else had something similar to this?

I may be no help, but I had the same thing. Actually..I had sores on my mouth and tongue...and a very itchy rash on my chest, arms and back of thighs. I went to the Dr. and he said it was some sort of hormonal reaction, or allergic reaction to something used in childbirth...pads etc. I used Hydrocorizon cream for a week and it was gone. Good luck.
I agree with Amantha, it sounds hormonal if you haven't changed any lotions or soaps. Is it itchy or just a surface rash?
Had small almost pimples and a red rash after my 2nd child. Tried everything forever - new shampoo, haircut, soap, laundry detergent, fabric softener, and multiple washings using nothing but water to clean my clothes. Also tried creams, soaps, lotions, etc. Even the dermatologist tried smelley creams and lotions, and nothing worked unitl my friend borrowed me some Elacon cream (steroid cream which is heavy duty). My dr yelled at me for using it, but I didn't care at that point...I couldn't even wear t-shirts because it was all over my shoulders and chest. The Elacon cream worked like magic, and it was gone within a couple weeks, completely. I think it was hormonal as I have never had it since, but the only thing that worked was the steroid cream.
Sometimes rashes are a result of your body detoxing. One thing to do is to drink lots of water. There are some nutritional supplements that will help with the detoxing.

I had a rash after the birth of my 2nd baby that was round, raised bumps on my legs that were the size of dimes. They were really itchy. They said it was PUPP even though it really started after the baby was born. It took about a month to go away and the medicine they gave me didn't really work for it. I'd just go into the doc and make sure just in case it's something else though.

Did you have any needles in your back or monitors. I had the pain killer in my back and the tape that they used gave me a rash for 2 or 3 weeks. If it might be that, then just put some lotion on it and it will go away.
This could be a long shot but I will tell you about it. My friend had the same thing after the birth of her baby this summer. She actually was diagnosed with some Auto Immune.....Rash (not sure of the name) It is something the Drs gave her pills and cream for. It was very hard for her to hear about it and all the side effects, be prepared just in case! If it doesn't go away, or gets worse, turns to blisters - get it checked out. Ask about Auto Immune Rash Disease. Good luck - I hope it isn't that.
i had a rash on my back after my son because of the tape they used with my epidural, it went away by its self after about a month, maybe it is just related to the hospital stay.
