1. Does anyone here have a very low and I mean low sex drive? How do you deal with it in your relationships? Solutions to help increase your limbido?
For years (15+yrs) I have no real desire to have intercourse. I rarely get aroused. Been to my obgyn and had blood work done, all hormone levels are normal. Went off birth control and no changes. Had one child, hit my 30's, no changes. Been a single mom for a yr and no interest in a casual relationship.

2. Have concerns about swine flu vaccination and not cool about giving it to my 18m old son. Does anyone really know the side effects of this vaccination in young children as this is a new vac?

3. Is chlorine harmful to an toddler if ingestued ea time at his swimming lesson? (He goes 1x a week)

4. Can u detect autism @ an early age or ADD? What signs do I look for?

Thanks!

Greetings D.: You have way to much time on your hands, to be worried about all of this at once!
I have 5 children and I will say that one has a form of Autism so that is why I chose to respond.
1. Austism, is not caused by giving your child vaccinations as some ill say. I think it makes it like they can blame someone rather than accepting that their child has an health issue. It won't be detected right away like down syndrome but can be discovered at a young age now, it wasn't when my child was born.
2. ADD-- that is something that I have a personal issue with. I have 2 sons that are adventurous, curious about all the universe, need moon boots to stay grounded and have organized great digs to china in ou back yard ( got to plant a tree in one hole), it is also called creative, imagination, nd what the world needs to become geat thinkers. I kept my boys busy at all times and yes it took work but as a mother that was my most important job. I never allowed them to take medication as was the YUPPIE thing to do.
ADD, was the thing chidlren were put on drugs for so that they could fit the round peg into the square hole. I also think it was used far to much for normal healthy children that were just inconvient for the parents and teachers.
3. The flu shot was given to all my children and yes the grandchildren are getting it. We have some serious illnesses out there. To many parents are having children exposed to things that were preventable from getting the needed vaccinations. Ask yourself, is not getting it worth my childs well being and maybe life?
4. We spend alot of time in the pool. It has never hurt anyone that we know of. I have a family friend that maintains pools and he says that his family is fine and that none of his clients have any trouble. Several people we know have given birth in swimming pools. Not my idea of fun but they did alright.
5. Maybe you just need to accept that you have your mind elsewhere and not worry about a passion you don't have. I have been a widow now for 2 years, my husband was very ill for several years before that. Have no plans of a relationship and am grateful that my sex drive is low or I 'd be making myself crazy now and then. I have other things that are enriching and fullfilling in my life and just don't have the time to focus on just that issue. We found that because of his illness, it was much more important for us to talk. Love has many expressions.Good Luck, G

You can increase your libido by
Taking L arginine on an empty stomach, 1000mg 3 times a day.
Rub skin with magnesium oil and let is soak in. take magnesium malate pills (reduce dose if u get the runs).

You need to normalize you hormones by:

Reducing Sugar intake
Stopping all soy products. ALL. check your labels.
Reduce chlorine and floride in tap water. Find out how online.
take b5 supplements.
take Idoral- (iodine) supplements, and also vit E with it.

Go online and do a search on how to take your body temp in the morning for hypothyroidism. If it is not within perameters, you should get to a doctor. I suspectyou have adrenal exaughstion, or thyroidism.

I would NOT give the swine flu to any child. go to mercola.com and search for swine flu vaccine. With any vaccine, you should make sure the child is doesd with vit c and magnesium.

Do you ever just do it, and then get aroused during the act? That would be my suggestion.

I think the swine flu vacc. is fine.

I wouldn't worry about 1x chlorine ingestion a week unless he's drinking tons of the stuff.

You can detect autism at your son's age, but please don't label your kid ADD. If he turns out to be active consider that maybe that can be a good thing. Certainly don't worry about "ADD" at his young age.

Do you have a reason to be so worried about your son or are you just a natural worrier? If so, try not to worry so much, just enjoy him. Women are natural worriers, and we have to try to control it some.

David S. answered your post wonderfully.

Don't even stress about the low sex drive, I am in my 20's and have no desire to have sex. Could it be a self esteem issue though? People have great responses about going to see an endocrinologist, but first start simple. If you don't find yourself attractive then its unlikely that you will want to have sex. Also, stress has a huge factor. If you are stressed your libido goes out the window. I would also recommend masturbation.

I have two kids, and an autoimmune disease and no one in my family is going to be getting a swine flu vaccine. Too new, too much unknown. But, I also don't get my family the regular flu vaccine. Your pediatrician will probably recommend that you get one, but make up your own mind and then it will be easier to tell your pedi what you want.

As far as autism and add you absolutely can detect at an early age. I recommend against going to your pediatrician for a diagnosis. Its kind of like going to your ob/gyn for an ear infection, see a specialist. Contact your local regional center, in northern CA it is ALTA, and request to meet with a psychologist for a diagnosis. There are a ton of resources out there for autism, and they start at 18 months, so the earlier your child gets diagnosed the better! I worked in the field, and where we saw the best results are with families who had a multi modal approach. They went with all of the traditional therapies (behavioral, occupational, speech) but they also looked at the biological side, and had a DAN! doctor. Its expensive, but the results are amazing. Remember, with treatment its not an all or nothing kind of thing, get the treatments that work best for your son!

I don't know much about the symptoms of ADD, but as far as autism goes there are a few. First, how are his communication skills? At his age his development marker would be one word sentences. Two years old is 2 word sentences, and so on and so forth. How are his motor skills developing? Do you notice any flapping of his arms, constant rocking back and forth, shaking his head, walking in circles (you will only see this symptoms in more prevalent cases)? Autism works on a spectrum, so there are severe cases and cases where you could barely tell that there is anything going different. Google it, google DAN! doctors, google everything! And call Alta, even if you find out there is nothing wrong, if you have concerns getting him checked now is an awesome thing to do.

I just read David S.' response, and I completely agree about the ADD thing. Of course we are getting more hyper kids, we are taking away all of their recess and breaks! Don't medicate your son unless it is your absolute last option. Just keep him busy, a lot of times kids act out because they are bored.

Good Luck!

You did not mention if you have been taking any anti depressants. They can have a major effect on your labido.
Autism and ADD can both be detected early. Add is the inability to focus or accomplish a task given that is age appropriate. My son has this. It's weird to sit there and see him sitting still, but know that his little mind is just spinning inside his head.

1. Sex! Who has time for sex! Just kidding :O) I lost my drive forEVER, and it is just now occassionally coming back. Masturbation can help get you interested again.

2. I have never had a flu shot, and i don't intend on getting a swine flu shot either for my family. We are working hard to be the ONLY family at our school that doesn't get the swine flu.

3. Have swimmer's and a pool, I doubt it can hurt your little one. It is only once a week, and my boys ingested it daily for 87 summer days :O) I wouldn't worry unless you believe your little one is having a reaction to the chlorine.

4. 19 months old.....ADD...I have no idea, but I would write down your observations in a small journal. If you Journal everything, it will help you LATER with any evaluations you do go through.

Have a great day!

I can try to answer a few of your questions.

1. Since having my second baby my sex drive has disappeared all together. I have not gone to the doctor yet about it. But I have been told that b12 helps you with energy and sex drive. I have yet to try it for myself though.

2. I dont know about the side effects too much but I am not giving my kids the vaccine. It is too new and have not been enough studies on it and there is a greater chance in my opinion of them getting the virus with the shot than without.

3. Im sorry I cant help you on that one.

4. They usually have you answer a few questions about your child at their 18 month checkup to do kind of an early screen for autism. You can also ask the doctor if you are concerned. But this young they usually dont diagnose ADD.

With regard to #1... I have been in your place. Talk to your doctor about giving you testosterone. It worked well for me... about a week or two after starting it, I was raring to go!

#2 - I have concerns about the swine flu shot; however, I have larger concerns about the swine flu with the numbers of people it seems to be taking. With underlying conditions, I need to take it. I have to go with the fact that it's like the other flu shot which I have been taking for years and just go with the flow. Something new is always a bit scary.

Regarding Swine Flu Vaccine: We're NOT doing it for our 19 month old. He's not in daycare and (obviously) not in school so we don't feel it's necessary. My best friend is a pediatrician and I asked her if she thought that was crazy and she said "Not at all". She told me the only reason she's getting it is because she works in a hospital and has a higher chance of exposure.
A bit of perspective: Something like 36,000 people die annually from influenza and only 1,000 have died from Swine Flu.
