It could very likely be from hormonal changes from having your most recent baby. My hair fell out like crazy when my son was a few months old, and from what I remember reading it can occur for up to a year. I was completely freaking out. It is temporary, but still not a lot of fun. Do you have itchy little spots as well? Like little tiny clogged pores? This is one of the symptoms of this type of hair loss, which is caused by hormonal changes, stress, and a few other things, as opposed to hair loss caused by aging. Google hair loss after pregnancy and see if you think that is what is causing it. If so, then it should go away after a couple of months, and then you just have to deal with the fun part of waiting for it to grow back.

You should talk to your doctor. it could be for a variety of reasons (some minor and some more concerning such as alopecia).

If you do something like Rogaine, you have to stay on it for life. As soon as you stop, the progression of the hair loss continues.

My friend had a similar problem and it turned out to be her thyroid. Wasn't working right. I think a simple blood test can check that.

My hair stylist suggested Nioxin Shampoo & Conditioner after I lost tons of hair after having my son. It worked great as my hair grew back. It's a bit spendy, but the large bottles last a LONG time. Once my hair was growing back really well, I started to cut back using it. I've still got a bit left in my shampoo bottle & use it a couple of times/week. I don't plan on buying more unless I need it again (next baby).

I experienced dramatic hair loss after my 3rd pregnancy, and a friend suggested using Nioxin. I use the shampoo and conditioner, as well as the shine gel. They have a wide range of products from vitamin supplements to styling products, and it's pretty reasonably priced.
