I am 6 mths plus pregnant. I've noticed some smaller hairs on my scalp that weren't there before. They are all different lengths and I cannot tell if my hair is breaking or growing. I haven't colored my hair since before I got pregnant and I do coconut oils and deep co nditioners. If its breaking I don't know why or how. My hair dresser says it could be growth that will faill out once I have the baby, but I don't know. Any ideas?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I wonder why this didn't happen with my first baby? I didn't gain or lose any hair :(

I think its new hair. I have them too- i'm 22 weeks. and they are like an inch long. that's typical, it happened with my son as well. Then after the baby in born, they fall out. how lovely i know!

Hi L.,

My hair did the same thing. It is just temporary. It will return to normal after your baby is born. Best of Luck to you!

First guess, I agree with your hair dresser. That is, assuming you're on pre-natal vitamins. They are great for growing your hair & thickening it up. But like she said, it will come to an end after the baby is born & you are no longer taking them. If you don't really notice your hair as being "thinner" though, I wouldn't worry about it. :)

Yes its new growth. They are small and very fine. Listen to the hairdress, they have seen it many times. You will lose some cause after the baby comes your hormones drop. Then at 6 months after the baby your hormones start to return to normal but it may take up to a year or so. Stress and there is alot of schedule changing. It took me a 1.5 yrs after the first cause i started a different birth control very soon after birth. I cant do condomns and get prego very easily. Second, i had more help and a remember alot so i was back to myself by 10months post baby.

I still get some new growth, vitamins help alot to grow them and not wearing a hat so much either.

My hair was super heavy and thick before getting pregnant and got even thicker. I was actually EXCITED when the hair started to fall out. I was tired of snapping ponytail holders everyday trying to put my "monster hair" back.

Probably growth, as your nails and hair grow more and are healthier during pregnancy. I miss my pregnancy hair and nails. Yes, it will fall out, but gradually and you probably won't notice it. :)

My hair did this, all the hormones makes your hair get longer, thicker, and fuller much faster than normal. Then for about 6 months after birth, I lost alot of hair, seriously by looking at the tub I thought I was going bald.....My doctor said it was perfectly normal....
