I am looking for some good green smoothie recipes. So far, we have just used organic baby spinach and mixed that with blueberries and bananas and some OJ. It is YUMMY!

I would love to add more greens to the mix, but I need it to be yummy enough that my 2 boys will drink it, and hubby too!

Share your recipes moms! Give me ideas to incorporate healthy items into my family's life!

Thanks!

I always throw a bunch of spinach into my own smoothies. My kids are a little reluctant, but the one I can always get them to drink is almond milk, bananas, peanut butter, a couple drops of vanilla extract, and a little honey. A huge bunch of spinach tossed into that basically disappears, at least flavor-wise. It does turn it a dull color, though. Drop a tablespoon of cocoa powder into that for a real treat.

Well, you opened my eyes, I usually make drinks like Purple Cows, milk and blueberries, or things with bananas, typical easy,no thought required, drinks.

I looked up green smoothie recipes and the whole world opened up, oh my stars, what fun recipes...thank you for asking this question.

Here's the page that came up with all the recipes on it. I am sure you have already looked but just in case you missed it:

My family won't drink smoothies at all, but we find other ways to add spinach. It's good on pizza, in mushroom/spinach enchiladas, quesadillas, hide in spaghetti sauce, put on sandwiches instead of lettuce, add to chicken noodle soup. We mix in baby beet greens if we have them too. The saying about kids being more likely to eat something they've grown is true for us.

My husband doesn't like vegies and he can't really chew up the hard ones and there aren't too many soft raw vegies...BUT he likes beets so i use those alot in the smoothie because just a little bit gives it a great red color and a tatse he likes, more appetizing than green. i use spinach but i also use avacado - it doesn't really seem to change the taste and it helps to make it a smoother consistancy. Bananas hide a lot of the vegie taste. I use celery and carrots - But i think you need a blender with a 2 horse power motor - I have the Living Well Blender by Montelle, it works great although my first pitcher started leaking at about 3 months. so, be sure to get th eextended insurance.

the other thing that would be important to do is be sure the kids are getting all their recommended amounts of natural vitamins. Synthetic vitamins can cause the same side effects as perscription drugs.
I have been a Health and Wellness Advisor for the last 16 years and I really love helping people live healthier, wealthier and save money and the planet all at the same time.

To take a look at the vitamins, personal care items (did you know that most toothpastes are poison?) and safe and super-concentrated non-toxic cleaners just go to Incredivites and Mighty Smarts
I have used these products for over 25 years and now my kids use them in their homes.

If you find an other good suggestions for veggie smoothies - please forward on - i am always looking for good ideas too. S. R.
