My daughter has been to Provena Mercy BHS 3 times now and needs a new hospital that will help her out better with her Bipolar disorder, Aspergers Syndrome, OCD, and Generalized Anxiety disorder. We are looking into Linden Oaks, Central Dupage Hospital, and Alexian brothers. Any experiences with these 3 hospitals? Thanks for your time and help!

I worked with every inpatient psychiatric hospital in Cook County at my old job (unfortunately, I have no insight into Linden Oaks or Central Dupage), and I was always consistently impressed by the staff at Alexian. The psychiatrists are very caring and are some of the best in the field (I believe Dr. Gregory Teas was named one of the top experts in bipolar). The case managers are very thorough and on-top of their cases. I would send my child there in a heartbeat if he needed a specialist.

I had an acquaintance who was bipolar and has been hospitalized over 30 times for her issues. She said Rush was one of the better places to go and that she'd never set foot in Alexian again (she had nightmare stories about how she and the other patients were treated).

We did an outpatient program with my young daughter at Lutheran General and were impressed w/them.

Has your daughter been tested through Igenex for Lyme disease? I ask because my daughter carried all of these diagnoses and more, but we are finally making progress through treating for Lyme. I'm happy to talk w/you more about this if you are interested.

My child has never been hospitalized at Linden Oaks, but his psychiatrist is on staff there and we love her.

I heard good things about Central DuPage.

I have had a family member go through a stay at Alexian Brothers. The results were good. The after-care program they offered was also good. Alexian Brothers has a seperate hospital in Hoffman Estates. This was the third hospital that we had been to and it was our last. Please no that being admitted to a hospital is not a cure. It takes a lot of hard work, months of therapy and a good psychiatrist to see improvement. Good luck!

I know people who have stayed at and worked at Linden Oaks, and I've heard nothing but positive things. Based on your location, CDH is closer, obviously. I don't know much about their psychiatric care, but I have been very impressed with them in any dealings I've had with the hospital.

I have not been hospitalized at Linden Oaks but have used it for outpatient services and was very happy. I work for an agency that serves people with mental illnesses and we have recommended Linden Oaks to families for years.
