For my DS daycare teachers X-mas presents I was going to Make them Pizzelles and sugar/salt body scrubs. One in Lavender (relaxation) and one in Grapefruit (Uplifting). If you were to receive this as a gift would you like it? Or just toss them to the side?

Love it! And who doesn't love a pizzelle? (But I'm Italian. I prefer the vanilla or Butter Rum flavor over anise.)
I like the body scrubs since it's not specifically a BATH ONLY thing, you can use it in the shower. I'm not a pizzelle fan myself, but they are easy to share with others no matter what. The fact that the gift is home made is important. If you're not sure, I would add a personal card that your child makes for each of the daycare teachers, I'm sure they would appreciate that like the frosting on the cake.
I think that it's a lovely thought and a lot of effort, and will be appreciated for that - but personally, I never like receiving personal care items - I have sensitive skin and only like certain products - so sadly these type of things end up usually donated to homeless shelters. Others people I know quite enjoy these things - but unless you know for sure - I personally wouldn't take the chance. I have a very good friend who is a teacher who once told me the best gift she EVER got - EVER - was she once got a $5 gift certificate to WalMart. I thought that was sad, but she said she doesn't want knick knacks, tree ornaments, or lotions. She has her own family and children whose artwork she treasures, but she doesn't need something from every child she's ever taught. She truly sincerely meant that the $5 gift card was the best thing ever, and since she's said that, I've had my child make some small gift bag - helping them to participate in the gift - and then tucked a little gift card inside (Dunkin Donuts, Target, WalMart) with a little note that I hope they splurge on themselves. Even when times were tight and we could only do a $5 card, the teachers seemed sincerely happy with it - and I'm sure you're spending at least $5 on the ingredients you are going to be using.

I think they are great gifts. I wouldn't use the Lavender b/c I hate the smell of it but I would use the Grapefruit.

Yes, because they are home-made & personal. What teachers don't need is a whole bunch of "#1 teacher" knickknacks for their desks or things they feel they need to display. If every kid, every year, gives something like this, they are pretty useless and generally problematic. I have about 40 such things after 5 years of teaching! What do I do with them all??
Same thing goes with a lot of food - if every kid gives them brownies or cookies, now what? The thought is nice, as is the individual and personal effort, but still...how much can one teacher eat? Something that lets them pamper themselves is nice - unless you have the feeling that these teachers don't like any type of personal care item at all.
In general, the other thing that is nice for teachers is a group gift card (from all the parents) to a nice store, a boutique, etc. It lets the teacher get something really nice for herself. A $10 gift card to a discount store (WalMart, Target, etc.) is nice from one family, but usually the teacher will just use it toward her regular shopping and it won't be meaningful. Or, she'll use if for classroom supplies that the budget didn't allow for, which is more about the teacher being selfless and not really getting anything for herself. A teacher friend of mine got a big gift certificate to a lovely boutique from all 20 parents, and she bought herself a wonderful pocketbook that she uses all the time. It always makes her feel warmly toward those kids & their parents, and it's something she never would have bought on her own, a real splurge. With a small group of daycare parents, this might not be practical now, but think about it when your child goes to kindergarten! Usually schools have a room parent who helps organize this sort of thing.

As a teacher myself, I would think it a very nice gesture and thank you a great deal, but I would never end up using the body scrubs. To me, personal care products are all about personal taste and selection.
I'd think it was great. I love those kinds of things. Plus I'm sure that they'll think it was thoughtful.
