My daughter's last day of daycare is on Monday. Any gift suggestions for her two primary childcare providers? I want to get them something as a thank you for all they have done. I am looking to spend around $50 for each of them.

What can I do next?

I agree with the gift cards. They love them. I wanted to get my triplets' kindergarten teacher a gift card for a restraunt and sent my daughter in to school to be sneeky and ask what Mrs. Widen's favorite food was. Well her answer was coffee. lol So I emailed her that coffee wasnt a food group and told her what I was up to and asked what her favorite coffee place was. She was so happy to get it. I also gave her a card from me. I had the kids give her their own card and we picked out stones from a rock store in Dundee that have cards that come with them that explain what the stones mean. They loved giving those to her and I know that teachers normally don't need any more "teacher" themed items. I also had one of their MSRP teachers last year (and the kindergarten teacher at Christmas) ask for a gift cert from erasers and crayons a teacher store in SOuthgate on Dix and Eureka. You wouldn't believe how much stuff for the classroom will come out of a teacher's pocket. Good luck!

I agree with everyone else. Gift Card. I know that it seems impersonal but as a former teacher it was my favorite gift.

Hi Rebecca,

I have a few friends who are teachers and since my son will be starting kindergarten this fall I asked them the same type of question. They both told me the BEST gifts they get are gift cards. Either for dinner out, grocery store, target or that type of thing. They said with all of the kids, all of the cute little nick nacks after a while are way to much and they don't know what to do with them anymore.

Good Luck!

I am a teacher and the best gift is 100% a gift card. I really ones that force me and my husband to make time for us (dinner, show).

Well, I know I am a bit too late to put in a suggestion since their last day was yesterday, BUT, being a day care provider myself and a suggestion to anyone else who reads the responses, a gift card would be a great gift!! A personal card, to someplace she would like to go. However, during one of my birthdays all my day care moms (with the help of my assistant) took pictures of the kids as to what I provided for them on a daily basis. It was cute, pictures of the kids cleaning with a brooom, standing next to the toilet with a plunger (with supervision of course), at the table with food for being their food preparer, and on and on and on. So, with tiem to still give this to them, a small "brag" book with pictures of your child would also be a lovely gift. When children leave a day care it is like one of your own leaving the nest. We cry, we laugh, and we miss them, dearly. I see some of them at the highschool now when I get my own kids on occassion and it puts a smile on my face everytime to have them notice me as a long time friend and not just another adult in their life.

I would, and have given a nice card with a heart felt message and then a gift card. This year I bought my daughters first grade teacher a gift card to Bed Bath and Beyond. I bought her dance teacher a gift card for gas. (she was always complaining how she hated spending her money on gasoline now that the prices were so high)

A gift certificate to a day spa or to get a massage might be nice also.

Good luck
