My daughters did the same thing, so I just gave them bites of what I was eating. I started with soft things like potatoes or cottage cheese and worked into other things. My kids were on table food at around 9 1/2 or 10 months old. Even my oldest who has cerebal palsey.

My daughter is about the same age. She has been eating Cheerios then Gerber puffs, green beens, small pieces of cheese, gold fish crackers, and soft pasta.

Well I think every baby is different and I say if she is interested in what your eating let her try it. Of course I would mash it first. That is what I did with my son. But he also had four teeth at that age and I had introduced all of the baby food fruits meats and veggies and he had no reaction to those so my doctor told me that as long as he had already tried those baby things he could eat whatever we were having, mashed up really good but not to give him any peanut butter, honey, milk or seafood I did however give him eggs. They do tell you not to give them these things until they are a year old but I did not know that eggs was on that list. My son eats everything now. Good luck!

I have an 11 month old son and I wondered the same thing. I don't know what brand of baby food you use, I use gerber and on their website they have menus according to stages of development. I've found them to be good guidelines.
Good luck!!

My son is 10-months-old and I dont give him finger foods yet. Why rush it. I started to give him puffs, and he would get them stuck on the back of his tongue, that would trigger his gag reflex, then up came all the food I fed him. But 8.5 months is young, my doctor didnt advise me to give chuckier foods until 9 months. For sure take it slow, nothing is scarier than giving your own child the heimlich. Good luck!
