Hello Moms! My 16-month old son keeps getting his feet caught in the slats of his crib at night and nap times. He wakes up screaming when it happens, scaring both him and us! We have a mesh bumper on his crib that is about 6 inches high or so, but it gets scrunched down a lot (he's a mover in bed!!) and sometimes his feet get under it. Does anyone have any suggestions for how to keep this from happening? The mesh bumper we have is the highest we could find, but I don't know if there's a better option? Thanks for your help!!
I used to weave the fabric in and out of the slats. It seemed a lot harder for her to scrunch it down and get trapped in it.
Good luck. (Also, maybe you can do this and tack the fabric to the slats from behind as a last resort?)
My son kept hitting his head against his crib and was waking up for us to move him. We ended up putting his bumper back on and since then he has not woken up. If you are not comfortable with the regular bumper, Babies R Us sells breathable bumpers which are mesh and if the babies face is against it, they can still breathe. Good Luck!!

My daughter did the same thing and what we did was: we took card board boxes and took them apart and slid them in between the matress and the walls of the crib then put the bumpers pads on top and this worked really well. Once she stopped wiggling around so much in her sleep we removed them. Hope this helps.
I would highly recommend a crib tent. When my youngest climbed out of his crib at 17 months old I was at my whit's end. We ended up with a crib tent which absolutely was a life saver. He loves his own space and has not tried to climb out since (not even in his Graco on vacations.) It has a mesh lining all the way to the top...with a tent attached.

Try a crib tent we never used one but they do sell ones that go all the way down the inside of the crib preventing limbs from getting stuck between slats.
we were having the same problem with my 6mo baby - we use Sleep Sacks for all naps/bedtimes - has helped 100%
BUT in your case I am not sure how large they run....I think Halo makes them for older babies.
Why dont you get the solid bumpers? Seems like high is not so much the issue here as barrier.
Never heard of such a thing...and surprised that crib slats would be so close together as to let him trap his little feet !!

We have a crib tent (a mesh tent that goes all the way up the crib and then makes a tent high over the top), and it has been useful for many things, including preventing feet from getting stuck (it also prevents toys from getting thrown out or in and prevents our 3-year-old from climbing in the crib with our 18-month-old). We got ours at onestepahead.com, but I'm sure they are available lots of places.
