yeah at 10 months old his main source of food should still be either breast milk or formula. But you can also give him some table food...like yogurt, mashed potatoes, soups, bananas etc. And if he likes baby food some of that too. As long as he is still getting enough breast milk or formula he is fine. Remember that at this stage the table food or baby food is more just preparing him how to eat real food but shouldn't be his main source of nutrition yet.

check out the book "super baby food" by Ruth Yaron - very in depth re: which food to start when, how long to wait between foods to test for allergies, great recipies, etc. She gives LOTS Of info, but the feeding schedule was terrific.

His main source of calories should be breast milk or formula (as previously said) But you can absolutely start introducing other foods. Most people start with rice cereal (made with formula or breast milk) for 3 days, then other single foods (pureed or cooked until soft and cut into small pieces). You do one food for 3 days before introducing the next so if he doesn't do well with one you know which it was. Good starters are avocado (just mash), peas (steam and puree), squash, sweet potatoes, carrots (look for low nitrate source ones), leafy dark greens, fruit (bananas - just mash, pears, peaches, melon, mango). He is old enough for cooked meats/fish once you have started the veggies and fruit. Just make sure they are well cooked and chopped finely enough he won't choke. No honey until he is 12 months due to the risk of botulism. Salmon is better than tuna because much tuna is high in mercury. Once you have tried these foods as single ingredients, he can start eating whatever you are eating - just puree or chop it finely.

he should still be on breastmilk or formula as his primary food for first 12 months- approx 18 oz's a day. Plus solid food maybe 3 meals a day. Needs iron esp. Play with textures of food, can be a little thicker/chunkier now-steam and puree veggies and fruit, brown rice or whole grain small pasta with butter, yoghurt, cheese, + anything you eat as long as it's healthy and not a choking hazard. Be careful and look out for allergies as well. Good Luck!
